Amedeo’s Italian Bistro — Restaurant in Alberta

My wife has been really wanting to try this place out and we went on Valentine's day and were very disappointed with the experience.

When I initially made the reservation they failed to inform me that this would be a set menu. My wife and I spent the month looking at the menu and deciding on different appetizers and entrees we were looking forward to trying, then upon arriving we found there was a set menu and would not be able to try any of the items we were looking forward to. But, we figured the items selected may be the best of their normal menu and pushed on.

After we were seated it took roughly 20-25 minutes for us to get a drink.

We ordered off the set menu. I got the Tar Tar, which was quite bland and they only offered one small cracker for the whole dish which seemed quite cheap. My wife has the meatballs which she enjoyed.

For the entrée I got the lamb which was really bland, basically raw and chewy, my potatoes were raw and crunchy. My wife ordered the seafood pasta, it had a ton of seafood which was great. But the noodles were overcooked and mushy.

We were only allowed to be there for 2 hours, which is understandable on a night like Valentines day. But the waitress forgot our dessert, we only had 5 minutes left in our slot and the waitress came to the table, eager for us to leave. We informed her we had not received our dessert, she came back with it quickly. The wife and I had one bite, looked at eachtoehr and grabbed our jackets, the tiramisu was not good.

This meal ended up costing us $286! (also worth noting I only had one beer, and my wife had a small glass of house wine) Not worth it at all. My wife and I were very disappointed and I don't think we...

The worst experience ever! I made a reservation for Father’s Day way in advance and they canceled our reservation because we were late 7 mins. We will never be here again! They just ruined Father’s Day for our family! Before you decide to give our table to someone else, you should have called us just like any professional restaurant does!

Thank you for your response, but I must correct several inaccuracies in your reply.

First, we were only 7 minutes late, not over 15 minutes as you claim. That alone makes your justification for canceling our reservation misleading and deeply frustrating.

Second, your allegation that we used profanity is completely false. At no point did we speak inappropriately to your staff. We were understandably upset at how the situation was handled, but we expressed our frustration respectfully. Accusing us of behavior that did not occur is not only unprofessional but also damaging.

We had booked this reservation well in advance for Father’s Day, a meaningful occasion for our family, and your team gave away our table within minutes of our arrival time — without so much as a courtesy call. That lack of communication shows a complete disregard for customer care.

At the very least, someone from your staff should have called us directly to apologize and offer a genuine effort to make it right!

Rather than deflecting blame and making false claims, I would encourage you to take feedback seriously and reflect on how such situations can be handled more fairly, professionally, and compassionately in the future if you really care about your business and...

Ok, for those of you following our reviews you'll know this 5 star is rare, in fact 5 stars down the line!! Here goes my thoughts:

Food- 5 sars: absolutely the best Italian restaurant I've found right here in Alberta. Cheese flown in from Itally yet everything else I believe local. The food was fresh and kitchen visible (personally I love that). There was nothing but teamwork and passion for food quality observed there.

The staff - 5 stars: Family run and operated along with obvious friends and colleagues. This team gave us a wonderful evening. Attentive yet not intrusive at all. Definitely worth the enjoyable 2 hours for a proper romantic 3 course meal.

Atmosphere- 5 stars: Here was unexpected yet appreciate fine dining yet relaxed. Simple, almost a 4 star for simplicity, yet as we sat and enjoyed our own company the genius of the decor came into being. "An upscale wonderful place for business casual or fancy romantic meal", approaches a good description. Ceiling to floor curtains maintain privacy from the outside while comfort and eclectic luxury inside lul one into peace.
