My family and I loved everything in the store. The seller/owner was very nice and hospitable. We enjoyed our ice cream that complimented the warm weather. We’ll definitely be back when we visit waterton again.
My thoughts — People will always have complaints..always.. will never be contented.
Takes cash payments only : so be it. An ATM machine is available in store if you don’t have cash. You didn’t wanna use the machine? Then don’t buy, their loss not yours. There are other ice cream shops nearby where you can take your business.
Expensive/Not worth your money : We find it less expensive than the ice cream store in Cochrane with less portion as well. We liked Welch’s more. Again, you can always spend your money elsewhere.
Rude staff : You weren’t treated right? In my opinion, only people with mental illness will do you wrong for no reason at all. Being treated rudely cause you did something that is not allowed is totally not acceptable, but, you can always choose to treat them back the appropriate way.
Unsanitary, Products doesn’t have labels on them : if you think/feel that your health is at stake specially at this time of pandemic and they don’t sanitize or you find the store dirty, then don’t buy the food they sell. There’s more to say to this re: Govt’s directives but It will make me type some more. 🙂 It’s always good to know what the products are by just looking/reading. We also noticed that the ice creams weren’t labeled, but so what? We simply asked the lady what flavours they were and she answered politely. No biggie. It didn’t change the fact that the ice creams were still good. At any point that you find something you don’t like, you are free to leave the store for sure. You’re not required to purchase. This applies to any other businesses or establishments.
All I’m saying is that, We only have 1 day at a time to live. Don’t live It with bitterness and complains or any negative feeling. Remember the 80-20 rule. Last but not the least, the ice cream store is okay, the staff was nice and friendly for heaven’s sakes. The world will not adjust to you and your preferences, it’s the...
Read moreDONT EAT HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!. They made a mistake on something I purchased but I had already handled it. They had no problem putting it back in the display case for someone else to buy. Also all the chocolate taste the same. There is such slight differences. I have had chocolate from almost every chocolate shop that there is. And I can honestly say that there is no difference between these and the 99 cent chocolate bar.. also they had long peanut clusters that looks like Oh Henry. Paid $6 for it and found out that it is just an old Henry taken out of the wrapper. I actually stopped and bought an O'Henry to check and it is literally identical. And it taste just the same. It's not any better than an O'Henry. This place Chargers four times the money and stocks their store with stuff you could buy at a Mac's Convenience Store. So disappointed in places like this. They have no pride in what they do. They don't take their time and make a beautiful chocolate product like a lot of chocolate shops do. Shortcut after shortcut after shortcut. And charging easily four to five times the money. Places like this make candy shops look bad. I can only hope that I lose them more money than they charged me. The only thing I can say is there ice cream was okay. But honestly the other ice cream store is much better. Also I bought a cherry Mountain Chocolate for $6. It is the exact thing that you buy in the store for a dollar. You find them in the square box and they're called cherry blossoms. I assume they just unwrap them from boxes and stack them high and call them cherry Mountain. They have found a unique way to rip people off. They do it bluntly and blatantly. So much so that you don't suspect it. Honestly I'm just rambling now. But I just cannot say enough about this place. Spend $30 on chocolate I could have bought at Max Convenience Store for seven or eight dollars. If the owner reads this she's probably thinking hahaha you're the idiot who bought it. Well to her I say you are right. I...
Read moreWalking into Welch's elicits a sense of nostalgia which is easy to get caught up in. You might find yourself feeling like a kid in a candy store, that is until you get to the register and realize that you're now the one who has to pay. I understand the nature of running a small business in a mountain park town, however, having no prices listed makes it easy to feel like you've been duped by a tourist trap. I purchased a (smaller than North American) small Kitkat, a glass bottle of Mexican Coke, a single chocolate-covered orange peel and a single peanut butter cup and the total was $22. Expect that anything you pick up is at least $5. We also purchased two pieces of pie, one cherry and one pecan. Each slice was 1/6 of a pie and came to $7 each. The owner said that she was up at 4:30 baking, however upon eating the pie I suspect that she was really defrosting a frozen pie crust from a restaurant supply warehouse and dumping a can of filling in. I have sympathy for businesses struggling during Covid, but that doesn't overcome my feeling of being charged premium prices for a mediocre product. My advice to the business owner is maybe consider focusing on what your business is good at and ditch the excess. It's clear that they are struggling with a shortage of labour, but unfortunately instead of offering good value to customers they are now compensating at the register. To be fair, on the plus side the Coca Cola was absolutely delicious. If you're touring the mountain parks check out Anna Lea's Candy Store in Jasper. It's not cheap either (nothing in park towns is) but at least the prices are listed and the...
