New owners??
We look forward to coming here every time we’re in town. The kids love the train & it used to be a cool place to stop & grab a bite. But man, has it ever gone down hill.
I ordered a decaf coffee and was told they didn’t have any. About ten minutes later, the server returned with a cup, saying she had “found a pod.” Maybe she did. But I just don’t think she wanted to make any.
It took over an hour for our food to arrive, and the only update we got was a quick “it’ll be out soon” — which still meant another 30-minute wait. In the meantime, we had a clear view of the pass window, and what we saw didn’t help. Food was sitting there for 15–30 minutes before being served, and cooks were placing order tickets directly on the plates — including on top of eggs Benedict, which meant servers were peeling paper off hollandaise sauce.
By the time we got our food it was all cold & gross. There was 4 of us & our meal was $100. Not worth it the money.
No one checked on us the entire time except one server (green shirt, dark hair, jeans) who wasn’t even our assigned server, but she was friendly and helpful toward the end.
Also, bussing tables & then not washing hands. It all just felt very dirty & gross this time around.
Overall, the combination of slow service, questionable food handling, and lack of attentiveness made for a pretty disappointing meal. We won’t...
Read moreWe went to WHIFS to try it since the new ownership took over, and we were very underwhelmed and disappointed.
It was busy when we arrived and when we were sat the server said she’d be right back to clean the table as there were crumbs still on the tabletop. She never returned. We waited 20 minutes and had to flag down a staff member to even get our drinks, and then waited probably another 5-10 minutes for our actual server to come take our order. It took our food (all breakfast items) an hour to be brought to our table, and during this wait we had to flag down staff to get refills on our coffees.
We will give WHIFS another chance on hopefully a day that isn’t so busy to see if the service is any better, but as of this review we were highly disappointed and can say that it is far from the WHIFS we had known and loved.
Edit May 26 - We attempted to give WHIFS another try today. We arrived over an hour before the restaurant was due to close and were told there were no menu items, all they had was buffet, and they didn’t have much left so they were closing. Very disappointed in how WHIFS has changed since it was taken over by new ownership, and do not know if we will be giving it another chance after this...
Read moreAte here twice today on the family road trip. Breakfast was fantastic. The restaurant was very busy but we were seated right away. Our server warned us that the kitchen was backed up so it would be a bit of a wait for our food once we ordered, 20-30 minutes. I appreciated the heads up but we weren't in a hurry. The coffee was good and never empty without a refill dispite being busy, same with the water. All of our food was delicious and came out in less than 25 minutes, which to me seemed pretty normal. We loved everything about our breakfast experience and I want to give a special shout out to our wonderful server Liz. Meal 2 was dinner after a long day out at the sites. It was much slower in the restaurant, and so was the service and the time it took to get our food. The homemade burgers were delicious, unfortunately the onion rings were cooked in old oil. I assume a busy weekend killed the oil so the quality by this point was disappointing but was still good enough. The breakfast was so good I was happy to go back for dinner before our long drive home at the end of the road trip. Dispite the dinner bot living up to the morning experience I would still give the overall experience a 5/5 and...
