This place is an absolute disaster. I have never had such a terrible dining experience. As someone who worked in the service industry , I would never recommend this place to anyone.
Buckle up because I cannot spare details.
I drove 3 hours out of town to visit family and have a nice dinner in Amherstburg during the Latin Festival. We chose this place as we were told it was a good place to go.
We were seated and our server got water for us and said she would be back to take our drink order. She didn’t come back. We had to attempt to wave her down multiple times to get her attention. She came over and I asked what tequila they have at the bar. She said “terramana”. I thought it was odd there was only one type of tequila available. I got up and checked the bar myself and saw multiple bottles of 1800. When she finally came back to take the drink order 20 minutes later I mentioned that I noticed they carried 1800 and asked for blanco. She said “we only have reposado” and I said “okay that’s fine “ knowing they had blanco. She came back and said they “just got it in “. They did not. The bottle had clearly been opened and half full. So she brought me my drink.
We ordered our food. We waited patiently. It wasn’t that busy. Most people were drinking at the bar. After 35 minutes we still had no food. And not once did our server even acknowledge our check in with our table despite walking by multiple times. It’s worth mentioning that she checked in on all her other tables including the one right next to us, yet we were neglected.
We were also the only visible minority family in the entire establishment and couldn’t help but feel we were getting “piss poor” service because of the colour of our skin and the Caucasian customers were constantly being looked after and checked in on. We should NOT have had to chase our server down at the bar as many times as we did. I don’t believe that this is acceptable treatment or that your establishment endorses this kind of treatment of your customers. There was a Latin Fest happening at the same time so I would think us being there wouldn’t inconvenience anyone but my entire table couldn’t help but feel that way. We couldn’t help but feel racially discriminated against.
It’s now 45 minutes with no update on our food or check in. My husband had to get up twice to ask her for an update. They never updated us or checked with the kitchen until he asked a third time. We were a table of 5. Everyone ordered burgers and fries. I ordered wings which does not take 45 minutes to make. She apologized for the wait and offered a free drink or a discount off our bill. We accepted the discount. Our food came out 10 minutes after. The server then condescendingly asked “Didn’t they tell you it’s going to be a 45 minute wait for food ?! They’re supposed to”. Had we had known this, we would have gone to Salty Dogs that had a 2 hour wait because we would have gotten our food faster.
We waited 55 minutes for burgers fries and wings. All the burgers were cold and the fries were cold. Only the wings were hot. We hesitated to send it back because we did not want to wait another hour for food.
We had not even finished our meal yet and the server asked if we wanted to take our food to go. The food wasn’t sitting in front of us for more than 10 minutes. I’ve never been offered takeout containers mid meal. Generally they’re offered when it’s clear everyone is done eating. Then they asked if it was on one bill. I wasn’t even half way through my meal !
We paid and left. We will never come back or recommend this restaurant. The service was embarrassingly horrible. At one point I thought we were being pranked because there’s now way this level of service is acceptable at an establishment like this. I’ve had better service at Chipotle.
The highlight was the live music. The musician was incredible and is the only reason I rated the atmosphere 2/5 stars.
Thank you for taking the time to consider my experience. There was no way to make it shorter without omitting...
Read moreWhen they were at their former address, my wife, myself and a few friends went to eat, have a few drinks, 1) for the food and 2) for the DJ that apparently played great music later in the evening. Well, that turned into my wife wanting that atmosphere to be at the centre of her 50th. I reached out and the immediate response was “for sure, what do you need”. From that second on, we knew this was the right decision. Then Burger Sixty-Seven moved. Instead of calling me and saying “sorry, we moved and it might be difficult to accommodate your group”, Dave asked “how many in your party?” At the time we had about 65 confirmed. Dave’s reply? “Okay, we’re going to close to the public for you guys”. This was a Saturday night, corner of Dalhousie and Murray in Amherstburg, during closed streets….when he would have a made a killing with the foot traffic alone. Yet closed for our private party. Janet let us store all our decorations etc there the morning of the party. She made sure that the bar was stocked with the birthday girls drinking choice. The appetizers that we provided for the attendees were fantastic. Dave even offered to make us sliders, which aren’t on the menu…but should be!! They were amazing!! Everyone was complimenting the food. Drinks were ice cold (something I find a telltale sign of what the place is like before even trying the food). And DJ Fury kicked a$$!! Had the birthday girl up and dancing the entire evening….and even played “Every Rose”, at our request, just so we could all belt it out at the top of our lungs!! I don’t know if this is an avenue Burger sixty-Seven wants to pursue, but my experience was a complete success. Everyone who attended has reached out to comment what an epic night that was. Dave, Janet, DJ Fury and the staff at Burger Sixty-Seven deserve AlL the credit. Right from how open they were to all of our requests, to the execution of the night and atmosphere they provided!! If you are planning a party of any kind, do yourself a favour and call them. You will not be disappointed!! We weren’t…and we aren’t the easiest people...
Read moreLet me start by saying I do not go to many restaurants as I am one of those people who hate paying for food that I can cook better at home but it was Valentine's day and I didn't feel like cooking! Also, I do not write many reviews of restaurants cause I usually have something to complain about and the restaurant business is hard but, the owner asked me for a google review when I picked up and I agreed so here it is. I had not ever even heard of Burger 67 as of yet but I saw it on Google, and I was not in the mood for sushi so, "what the heck" let's give it a shot. I love a good burger. I ordered the classic burger, as I always do the first time I order from a new burger place cause I want to taste the burger, not the sauce or the other fancy toppings that hide whether or not a chef "knows what he/she is doing". I was pleasantly surprised by the meaty taste. OMG a good burger! The toppings were fresh and flavourful, the brioche bun was bouncy and the aioli was subtle and not overdone. I did not expect such a good burger from an Amherstburg Backstreet Restaurant! But wait, there's more. My daughter ordered the Pulled pork poutine. I am a bit of a poutine purist and do not usually want meat on my poutine but what do you know? Surprised again. The pulled pork had flavour! it was slightly smoky and not over sweet. It tasted like someone actually cares how their food should taste even if it is just a topping. An ample sized portion and it was well worth the money. Lastly and certainly not least, the most surprising part of the meal was my wife's vegetarian burger. I say in all honesty that I'm not sure I believe that this is a vegetarian patty. "you are exaggerating" you must be thinking. UMM no I'm not! I'm going to have to have a chat with the owner about this veggie patty because had he not told me it was a rice burger, I would have never known the difference. I can't even begin to explain it or believe it, but it was amazing. I might actually order it next time. This is a well deserved 5/5 Mr. Burger 67! you...
