The service was amazing. The woman who waited on us was very personable, kind and friendly. She was also very accommodating by asking us if we wanted to move to a bigger table to accommodate the tomahawk and lobster we had ordered.
But that’s pretty much the only good part of the evening.
The tomahawk was served practically cold and not seasoned at all. It was the equivalent of bland prime rib. The lobster tail we ordered for $25 was so small, my partner ate it in one bite. The meat that came out of the shell was about the size of a peach pit.
Honestly the best part were the mashed potatoes. Absolutely fantastic.
Our waitress came to check on us to ask us how our food was, I said it was “okay” to which she asked if she could fix anything for us. I replied no, as there is nothing you can do to the food at that point.
We did order dessert (crème brulee) which was taken off our bill, I assume as a courtesy due to my “ok” reaction to the food, so that was appreciated. It made the cost of the pitiful lobster tail more reasonable.
Also the music in there is crazy loud. Multiple times I had to ask my partner to repeat what he was saying as I could not hear him across the table. I’m literally 34 I don’t have a hearing problem lol
All in all, I would probably return but order something else, because it was definitely not worth the $250 bill and drive from the city. Much better steak options here in the city who can serve them...
Read moreWent yesterday for mother day, the food was alright wasn’t amazing but wasn’t horrible. French onion soup was awesome steak was pretty good Brussels sprouts were burnt scallops lacked flavour. But over all it was alright. Service was not amazing. Our reservations were for 6pm wasn’t taken until 6:15. Didn’t get our apps until 7 slow service and i would have been all good with this until the end when we were told there was a prorated gratuity. Usually it would be mentioned on the menu and it’s usually for 8 people we had 6. I’m in the tipping industry so I understand the importance of a gratuity but they are earned not expected. I told our server that I wanted to give her cash and wanted it taken off our receipt. We had a bit of a miscommunication she then roller her eyes and wasn’t happy with her 90$ tip because it was suppose to be 94$ apparently, confronted her and she told me I didn’t give her the right amount after I was trying to tell Her I’d rather give her cash. Just thought it was rude and with the service I got the 20% gratuity wasn’t worth it. And I’m a good tipper when I get good service. When it’s prorated and expected is a huge turn off because the service isn’t that great and it’s not earned. so will not be returning. I ended up giving her the extra $5 after she told me I was opinionated with what I was trying to...
Read moreVery good food. Nice place! Now some time later we were finally back here for dinner instead of lunch. My previous comments - good food, nice place - can actually be escalated to highest praise for this high end restaurant. Although, the prices are very posh, so is the food - simply incredible and worth every penny if you are prepared to dine in a first class deluxe restaurant and get great value for all of it - atmosphere, menu, service, hospitality, and a top of line great chef! We will so be back again for another magnificent dining experience. We had cold craft draft beer (Heritage IPA), crab cakes, lobster bisque, wedge salad, fillet mignon (perfect medium) with smashed dressed potatoes and medley of vegetables - red beet/golden beet/sweet parsnips, chicken lafontaine with veggies and potatoes au gratin, and of course their wonderful home made bread. Everything was served very hot from the kitchen so the flavour were sublime! The only thing I would tweak is to close the clear vinyl patio entrance enclosure with some sort of door and light up the one or two patio heaters which is just outside the main solid door restaurant entrance as on this -3C degree winter day every time the door was opened there was quite cold draft that moved in but the heating system inside quickly took...
