Eagles Nest Restaurant — Restaurant in Bancroft

My partner and I went out for brunch and found Eagles Nest Diner on google as the highest reviewed diner in the Bancroft area. When we walked in, there was sanitizer available at the door and there were tables spread out around the restaurant which was following the standard of covid protocols. Our hostess was very gracious and friendly when we ordered. I asked her if I could substitute the choice of meat side for a coleslaw side, as I am a vegetarian and she told me I could. I also asked her if she could substitute the regular bread slice for a gluten free slice and she told me she would double check if they had any available, as they offered that option during regular season. Thankfully, she came back with my order and it tasted AMAZING. I would 100% recommend the gluten free bread at this restaurant as it is fresh, fluffy and homemade and tastes like nothing you have experienced before!! My partner received a very generous portion of a sandwich called "The Big Crunch" which is a fried chicken sandwich with spicy mayo and a few toppings. We have heard so much good about eagles nest and wanted to go in and have breakfast even though it was after 12 noon, the day before we were in when nobody was there and the owner and the employee indicated the breakfast would be served until they were out of eggs later on in the day. So we came in around 1 p.m. on a Sunday and asked for breakfast and the owner was all stressed out and running around and give my wife, myself, and another couple that was with us attitude and we were all very uncomfortable and where about to leave because of the rude comments from the owner. Then our friend came in and was about to sit at our table when the owner came over and told us that if she had known that this person was going to join us she wouldn't have treated us the way she did and apologized profusely but the damage was already done. I did enjoy the food however my wife was as upset more so then I was at the rude greeting from the owner and she did not enjoy her meal and I'm not sure I could talk her into going back to the establishment once again. Eagles Nest Restaurant was recommended to us by a local as we are new to the area. They praised the food to be home made and delicious which we can now attest to. Ordered takeout for maple bacon burger, onion rings and BLT with crunchy seasoned battered fries. The burger was really good, not overly seasoned so you could taste the beef and appreciate nice soft bun as well as my picky no condiments request followed to the letter. My husband raves about their BLT despite being a simple sandwich, he really loved it. All very tasty which will bring us back to try more menu items.

From the outside you wouldn’t think anything of it, but a true gem inside - small but cosy, clean and welcoming. Parking in back where the entrance is.
