The Old Tin Shed — Local services in Bancroft

I have been coming to and supporting this local shop for years. Without going into too much personal detail, I suffer from extreme digestive issues that can trigger unexpectedly. After initially browsing in the shop I had such an attack. When asked if I could use the washroom I was told they don’t have one for customers. I was in a situation and I pleaded my case to the worker who said she would ask the owner/manager (don’t remember the actual title). This owner/manager approached and in a very harsh tone said they don’t have customer washrooms. I was in dire need and afraid to move, my friend who was with me also attested to my situation. The Owner/manager shrugged her shoulders and rudely replied that it was a health violation and directed me where to go in town. I have been in this situation before and never been turned down the use of a washroom. It would have been a health violation for them for sure if I had an accident in their store. I managed to make my way out of the store and to the little shop next store. While this shop also did not have a customer washroom, saw the anguish in my face and led me right away to their washroom facilities. I was so grateful.

While I understand stores may not want people coming in only to use their washroom it was apparent that was not my case.

The rudeness, lack of common decency and compassion was astounding. I will never set foot in this shop again despite previous visits with purchases made. The true colours of the store...

Just going through some of the reviews here and must say I have to agree with most, this is the most delightful, unique and enjoyable shopping experience you will find in this part of Ontario - quite possibly the whole province. The staff are warm,friendly and inviting and go above and beyond to help. My husband and I travel extensively and I have yet to find a shop as unique or inviting to date in our travels. I find it disheartening to see reviews written like the one found on this page critical of staff/owners for wanting to maintain some order when a child who no doubt was undisciplined and running unsupervised in a store that is definitely not a toy store (we have all seen and been around those entitled little darlings) are posted. If the adults making these negative posts put as much time and thought into parenting as they did into attempting to influence negatively the shopping experience at a perfectly delightful shop perhaps there wouldn't have been an issue in the first place, and I doubt very much that this shopping location is the first who has found it necessary to speak to their...

Store is pricey, in my opinion quality doesn't go in pair with it. You guys advertise in radio (or at least you used to) that you are selling local artists stuff??? Well, I went there around Christmas time, looked at every single thing and I am not sure what you meant by that because haven't found anything else made in area than candles. I understand that you want to keep your business alive, but you do not behave like that, letting people wait for you while wanting to go through cash register and washing the floors before closing it feels very unwelcoming.3 stars only because I've seen some nice ideas and want to be fair.
