Read moreStopped here to grab some takeaway pho and some fried rice. All in all, it wasn't bad but it wasn't perfect either.
The chicken pineapple fried rice was a smaller portion than we've had from other similar restaurants for the same price and it was like regular, run of the mill Chinese chicken fried rice with pineapple added to it. We've had this dish at other pho places and it's been a signature dish so there's no reason it can't be better.
The pho was nice, broth was decent (not as deep in flavour as we've had before) but I was charged $2.00 extra to substitute chicken broth for beef. Not sure why, they didn't have to do anything special except pour beef broth versus chicken. Nice touch to have shredded chicken as opposed to slices but there were several chunks of chicken bone in it so that was a bit off-putting.
Service was fine. Not overly friendly but not terse either. It was takeaway so... Chicken dumplings were standard fare. Deep fried pot stickers filled with seasoned minced chicken.
Again, decent but not perfect. Probably would go back if nothing else was open and we really needed a pho phix. $68 with 1 medium veggie pho, 1 large chicken pho, fried rice and dumplings (with the extra charges for beef broth and extra veg)...
Read moreFirst time back here since new ownership and it’s not a pho place, it’s a Chinese food place that serves some Vietnamese dishes. I ordered the pho and asked for no onions. The miserable waitress brought my soup and my kids’ soup with what looked like onions so I mentioned to her that I asked for no onions, She responded with “ it’s cilantro, have you ever had pho before?” Yes , Ive enjoyed many, many pho from many authentic places along Spadina, in Richmond hill, Markham and never did it come with cilantro. Instead of being rude, she could’ve just informed me it came with cilantro too. I still left her $5 because I too worked in the serving industry for many years of my life and understand we have bad days. Maybe it was just a bad day for her but it wasn’t a friendly or welcoming experience for us. The food was good, minus all the cilantro and unnecessary rudeness from the one waitress, we will have take out if we eat...
