I went in to buy a bag of coffee yesterday, looking for the nuance flavours of freshly roasted coffee that you just can't get at the grocery store with generic brands.
The lady at the counter was very friendly and accommodating, especially since you can't walk through the store because of Covid. They have a table setup at the front to stand at that has all the Covid protocols in place. It was my first time there and I didn't have anything in mind, so she brought over to the table all the different flavours for whole bean coffee. She described each one to me, which was awesome. But still I couldn't decide because they all sounded good. I wish I could have tried a sample coffee of each, but this was the next best thing.
i was going to buy just one bag, but the prices are really good and I couldn't decide between two of them, so i got both! The House Blend and the European Espresso.
House Blend, so good! It has the nuance of the fruity taste that I was looking for. You can almost still taste the coffee fruit. Hard for me to explain not being a professional taster, but this coffee is awesome and highly recommended. European Espresso, is spot on, I love it. No bitterness and very smooth.
Now the question is, after these bags are done, should I get the same ones that I know I love? Or try their other roasts... to be continued.
PS. The store is nice and the branding is awesome, makes me feel proud to be Canadian. And who works harder than a beaver after a freshly...
Read moreThis cafe is the best Barrie has to offer in coffee. High quality roasts and skilled baristas can be found here. This comes from someone who has been a barista themselves for 5+ years. They have incredible cold brew and the best focaccia I've ever had. I enjoyed a nitro cold brew and have had their regular dark roast coffee. The location is amazing right next to a huge park with big windows offering natural light and park views. The cafe itself is clean and conveniently arranged and also offers various sized bags of take home coffee for sale. The staff are experienced and will grind the take home coffee for you optimized for your usual brewing method (I personally am partial to the French press, so I got a coarse grind). All staff are friendly and the menu options change regularly so you'll never run out of new food options to try when you visit. The coffee bar is open to the dining area so you can see them preparing your beverages. I can speak to the quality of their preparation methods as they work with the same care I would when making myself a beverage at home.
P.s. they sell focaccia dough to take home and...

I went to this store several times over the past week anticipating a good coffee experience after moving here recently... Waiting passionately for them to open after the holidays... I had very high hopes, especially coming from Calgary where roasteries specialized in specific origins of the world exist.
To my disappointment, this business is not meant for coffee connoisseurs... They don't even have the roast date printed on the bag; anyone who thinks it's enough to have an expiry date, or even a roast date that is granular to the month only, definitely doesn't know much about coffee, or doesn't care.
I don't know if people like me are too few around Barrie, I currently go to Hamilton for coffee specialty (yes, a 1.5 hour drive from here)... But I think I'm not asking for too much; really just a roasting date and more details on traceable coffee beans!
I wish the owners...
