First of all, to anyone out there slandering this place and calling it “dirty” or “disgusting”, you’re lying. Plain and simple. Either you’ve never been here, or you’ve got some personal agenda, because nothing about Izmyrada’s deserves that kind of disrespect.
Let me break it down for the real ones who actually care about good food, good people, and honest hustle.
This place is a hidden gem that’s been serving up authentic, flavorful, and damn satisfying shawarmas that blow the competition out of the water. We’re talking juicy, well-seasoned meat, fresh ingredients, and a sauce game that could turn any skeptic into a believer. I’ve eaten shawarma across the city, and trust me, izmyradas diner-style shawarmas hit different. They’re bold, they’re packed, and they’ve got that comforting homemade feel you can’t fake.
Not only is the food fire, but the man behind it all? Respect. He puts his heart into this spot. You can see the pride in how he cooks, how he talks to customers, and how he runs his kitchen. I’ve seen it myself, this place is clean, organized, and run with care. Don’t let a few keyboard warriors with shady motives convince you otherwise.
What really sets Izmyrada’s apart is the vibe. It’s not some sterile chain restaurant with cookie-cutter meals and robotic staff. It’s real, it’s gritty in the best way, and it feels like a place that welcomes everyone who appreciates authenticity, not some fake, polished experience just for show.
To all the haters trying to smear this man’s name and business? Shame on you. You’re not just attacking a restaurant, you’re attacking someone’s dream, someone’s livelihood, and someone who’s actually contributing to the community by bringing real food to the table.
So here’s the deal: If you want soulless food and sterile vibes, go eat at a chain. But if you want something made with flavor, pride, and purpose, then Izmyrada’s is where you need to be.

Read moreThis place is a hidden food gem. We need more places like this, not just the town, but in Canada in general. First off, we saw the signs up on the entrance about 1-2 years ago and couldnt wait for a real med/turkish joint to open up. The only doner/kebob options around are osmos or one of them pita places who couldnt even wrap a joint to save their lives. But this place left us grinning and stunned. We ordered doner beef wrap and didnt know we were in for a treat. The owner/chef heated up the pita over a fire, then cooked the beef and finished it off by smoking the meat over a wood fire. And then came the fixings going in the wrap were ALL freshly cut or crispy/pickled. The sauces were crazy tasty and IMO probably the best true wrap place right now in Barrie. Izmyrada's is right up there in taste, quality, value for money and especially the service, at a time when places are being hammered by high costs & tarrifs. Just note- this place has a really interesting back-story. The owner is a real example of barrie-proud&strong. To find out on reddit how the planning/building department staff and admin mis managed the approvals for the restaurant is reckless, appalling and un-Canadian. The folks who run it should be deeply embarrased as there is no room for hate in multi-cultural Canada. Elbows up people. Support Izmyrada's; you wont be...
Read moreI LOVE this place!!! I stopped here spontaneously and had the most pleasant experience. The staff was absolutely lovely, service was quick, price was reasonable and best of all, the food was AMAZING!!!
The portion sizes were spectacular, I was full for HOURS after leaving. The plate was full of flavour — I really enjoyed the chicken especially. It was tender and well seasoned, very very tasty. Everything was cooked perfectly, and my only complaint is that I haven’t found this place sooner! I will DEFINITELY return every single time i’m in the area!
I cannot disagree more with the bad reviews listed. The place was perfectly clean — certainly more clean and hygienic than the standard place. The service was exceptional and so incredibly kind. I can only imagine those two users have something against the owners directly, which breaks my heart. I cannot recommend this place enough, and having been even once I would recommend to everyone I know.
