Jack's Pancake Factory — Restaurant in Barrie

It’s amazing food and great portion sizes. The waitress we had was incredibly friendly.

Such a shame that the front door teens working aren’t as good as the cooks or waitresses. First they refuse to give you a rough estimate of how long it could be. Not even a range (like 20-40 mins), they refused. Then they put your name in a line and ask for your full phone number. Which is a good idea, because you can go to your car to wait for them to call you when your table is ready! Except, they don’t call you. They expect you to wait outside in the heat for your turn. Why even take down our phone Numbers then?!?!

After 45 mins waiting in our car without a call from them telling us that our table is ready, we started to get a feeling that our table should have been ready already. So we go inside and ask how many more are ahead of us, and they said that they called our name 4 times already over the past 20 mins or so!!!!!

First of all, if it’s only gonna be 20ish mins for a table, why can’t you tell us it won’t be more than half hour?! And second, why did you take our phone number if you aren’t gonna call it when our seat is ready?! And maybe after the second time calling our name, perhaps someone should have had the idea to call our phone?!?!

And third, the guy was like “you have to wait outside the door” when we asked about our table. Nobody told us that we have to wait outside the door.

Management needs to hire teens who actually care, or train them better. Because even though the rest of the service was great and the food was delicious, the poor work ethic of the girl and guy at the front door left a horrible taste in our mouths the rest of the meal. We are new to the area, coming from Everett, Ontario. It was our first time at Jack's. I have been in the service industry for over 30 years, server, bartender, GM/ MANAGER and now District Trainer FOH staff for a large chain of Restaurants. We were at Jack's November 30th. ALEX greeted us at the door and walked us to our table. She was chatty and extremely friendly and out going. SYDNEY came to take our order and explained how some choices were quite large and made a few suggestions! She knew the menu thoroughly and was so helpful and friendly!!! SYDNEY took our order, made sure our coffee was full, ALEX came by to check also on us. Our food came it was perfect, looked amazing and OMG IT WAS FANTASTIC!!! SYDNEY did a check after our first bite and made sure we were happy! BOTH girls checked and continued to chat with us! I have to say to the owner of this establishment you have two rare jems on those two young ladies, I watched them interact with every table in the restaurant that morning, and I am not easy to impress. THOSE TWO GIRLS ARE THE #1 reason we will be back!!!! AND DEFINATLEY THE FOOD #2!!!! WELL DONE, GREAT JOB TO THE KITCHEN STAFF also as if it weren't for their hard work the serving job wouldn't be able to do theirs!!! 20 out of 10 THANKYOU SEE...

Pros: Good breakfast, big menu with delicious variety of options! Good size portions, lots of coffee refills offered, fast, professional servers. Home fries are real potatoes not frozen which is a plus. Lots of crispy bits! Pancakes big and fluffy, eggs cooked right to order on the eggs Benny, no complaints outside of a lot of flies but I guess that can't be helped in the heat of summer with people going in and out.

Neutral: Be advised it is not a quiet spot, it's bustling and lively. At least when we were there. It was a bit chilly as it was a cooler day and I'm sure AC is set for all the heat we'd been getting. Not end of the world.

Cons: Be prepared to wait 20 or 30 min for a table on a busy wknd after 10am. We waited in our car and they called when the table was ready though and that worked out fine.

We will definitely go back!

Went back this weekend. Everything was great again. No wait this time, we arrived just past 9am. Really friendly waitress, coffee and water topped up regularly by the tall waiter who never stops moving! Big portions (we had omelettes and the home fries, ordered and served perfectly well done, were so good) .
