I donāt know where to start, so Iāll just say the Italian Bakery saved my butt in the yummiest way.
I placed a large order for custom sugar cookies a couple of weeks in advance of an event. Little did I notice, I gave the date for the day after the event. I followed up the day before to confirm details and bakery staff alerted me to my error.
They did not have to do this ā though Iām sure a large order is not something theyād happily let go ā but Chantal not only ensured I had a way to keep in touch after hours, contacted the baker when theyād already gone home, and went above and beyond to see if it was still possible, but they also started on our order before getting confirmation the morning of - just in case we didnāt want to cancel.
Sure, bakeries start early, but a special kudos goes out to someone working after hours AND before to connect with me prior to 7 in the morning and see if I still wanted the cookies to happen.
Upon my arrival at the bakery, the young staff member who greeted me was friendly and professional when helping me with an order that was clearly for the following day. They confirmed everything, helped me load my vehicle, and even allowed me to borrow the bakery trays to make transportation safer for the cookies and easier for me. I did not catch their name, but a shoutout here, too.
This is entirely about service, which was an easy 5 stars. I wish I could speak more to the food, but I only snatched a cookie at the end of a long day on my way to return the trays. I thought it was great! But am I still kicking myself for not picking up a focaccia while I was there? You bet.
Iāll definitely return, with no event deadlines in tow, to sample the beautiful product. I can tell you that if youāre looking for a visual meditation, standing in front of the display cases of yummy treats will send you into a sweet-tooth dream world.
From the bottom of my anxious heart, thank you,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn January 17th I took my 2 year old to the bakery to pick up some cookies. I'm a big fan of all things italian bakery and knew he'd enjoy a cookie.
As we were standing looking at the cookies, he was beside me holding my hand, I heard a splat. I looked down and saw he had puked. I knelt down and saw he was upset and confused *because he's a toddler. I stopped a passing staff member, who I immediately apologized to, and let her know what had happened. He response was to role her eyes, not even stop her stride and say "oh."
She continued walking and I waited by the puke to ensure no one would step in it. My toddler had puke on his coat and his boots.
The lady came about after about 3 minutes and handed me a roll of paper towels and then walked away. I wiped up the puke the best I could. While I was doing that another staff member approached me and talked to my toddler, and was very kind. After I had wiper up the puke I apologized to him and we left.
I know it isn't the first staff members job to clean up toddler puke. But, through the lense of general human decency, she was lacking compassion which translated to me never wanting to return to that location. Moral of the story is be a nice person, show compassion and you won't...

I asked if the mousse cup had any gluten in it, I even clearly said I understand it was made with gluten present, I was told it did not contain gluten itself. Again I understand cross contamination. I asked for it to be packaged separately from the other items I was purchasing for my family. I get home and it was in a box with the pecan tart and now it is 100% contaminated!
I was quite excited for once not having to skip a treat but that was not the case. I tried calling the woman who answered first told me I was calling the wrong place. When I asked if I was calling the Italian Bakery on 118 th Ave she said yes so no I was not calling the wrong place. I got no resolution on that call so I sent an email, no response so to Google I go to change my review.
I'm a Celiac but remember their doughnuts being awesome. My vet clinic is 250 km south of Edmonton and I always stop here to pick them up a couple dozen doughnuts as they are in the middle of nowhere and are stuck with some crappy Tim's in a gas station. They are always a big hit and usually gone before our...
