UPDATE: I stopped in 12 hours later. The supervisor on staff was so upset to hear of my experience. Offered us free meal coupons the equivalent of our order value PLUS a couple free root beers slushes (only usable at this location) We are okay with the outcome. We will be going back to give them another chance

A&W is a household favourite. This particular one has been around longer than I have and holds a big place in our family. My aunt, my sister and various family memebers have worked here over the years. The last few years, I feel like we’ve watched it decline. A nice renovation cleaned up its curb appeal but frankly the service has not kept up to par. 11PM, July 24th we pulled into the drive through. We sat for 7 minutes before someone came on the mic. No big deal, it’s late, limited staff. So far whatever. The attitude of the worker in question- we felt as if we inconvenienced her by stopping in. Not only was the lady blunt but she couldn’t be bothered taking my order correctly apparently. The order was so far from correct, the fries were old and ICE cold, our buns were burnt, asked for Root Beer (obviously) we were given 2 diet cokes. Frustrating but mistakes happen. We tried to circle around to complain but no one came back to the mic, upon approaching the window, nothing, she refused to open the window to correct my issues until 10 minutes went by, finally opening the window. Exchanging our pops but explaining cooking new burgers would take 20+ minutes. We headed home instead.

Understandably this is probably a really tough A&W to work at considering the area however we weren’t difficult or rude just hungry and tired(maybe a bit impatient but not deserving of this...

To start, I don't expect much from this location, it's just the closest one. I went with a "two can dine for $9.99" breakfast coupon. At first the worker was having trouble adding up the order and I had to clarify that I only wanted what came with the coupon and nothing else. He scans the coupon and says it'll be $11.54. At this point I've pulled out cash as I had little faith in the staff and boy was I right. I try to explain that the price is wrong and he says that it is just the tax added on. The gst is only 5% and explain to him that for $9.99, the tax would be $0.50. The other worker comes over and looks at the till and repeats that it is $11.54. At this point I figure I am just better off getting my coupon back and going to a different A&W as I'm worried there will be egg shell or worse in my food. I go up to the one on Manning crossing and they charge me $10.49, the correct price.

Now $1.05 is not going to break my bank but it's something I could see a person who has fallen on hard times, and is scraping together the cash they have, get worked up over. I can drive up to a different (better) A&W but that is not an option for everyone. I just wish the worker could have listened to the math and figure out why there was a discrepancy rather than just smile and insist...

Every time I go to this A&W I'm disappointed. And for some reason I forget and go back.

This most recent visit.... we went through the drive thru. Waited and waited with my screaming kids in the back, that's fine- it's dinner rush, not their fault. We ordered 2 kids packs, and they didn't come in the box as usual. I think "hmm that's weird" so we look at the order to make sure it's right. No granola bars that usually come in the kids pack. I go in and ask for them. She says "it's a shortage from the back". Well, i get frustrated and mutter to myself as I walk out, but I'm not about to argue while my kids are angry and hungry.

They should inform the customer that they don't have it when they order, or reduce the price, because something that is included in the price isn't being provided. They literally just didn't put it in the bag and said nothing hoping that we'd get home without them. Seriously?

And ontop of this, I ordered a mama burger and got i think- a teen burger? Definitely not a mama. But we didn't realize until we got home, we just counted burgers and fries.

Just save yourself the headache and go somewhere else. If your dead set on A&W, drive to manning crossing and hit up one of the...
