My husband and I arrived for an early dinner on Saturday, August 17 at approximately 440 pm. We were served by a young gal who took our order, brought our beverages and shortly after our meal and then dropped bill off on the table. Then she disappeared. No one came to ask how our meal was, replenish beverages, or remove our dishes. My husband needed a to go box but as no one came I had to wait at the cash register to pay. Another gal and I waited for service to pay our bill. Finally an employee from store side came over to take payment. She was extremely pleasant and did her best.
I explained to her how dissatisfied I was with the complete lack of service. She informed me that the server we had went on her break. The restaurant was steady and there was an older lady serving along with a taller one. I asked why an employee would go on a break when the restaurant was so busy. She agreed with me but said they need to take breaks. The taller server heard this conversation and in a loud voice said, well we are only two people. She was obviously not in a customer service mode.
We have patronized this establishment for many years and this was the worse experience ever. Very disappointing and will never return. I’m sure many restaurants would be pleased to be as busy as this one was. Perhaps there needs to be a mandatory course in providing...
Read moreConnie our server today took a pleasant amount of her time to explain the history of this Edmonton landmark and the Beverly area. She herself has lived and worked this neighborhood for most of her life she proudly boasted.
Passion like this is unparalleled in this day and age, great start to our lunch.
The place is full and for good reason, we are eager to get this homemade fare into our bellies. My lunch buddy had the “Real Deal” plate- all the Ukrainian fixins are represented. I opted for the monthly special Aloha (Kubie) burger. There is a competition going on and Connie was going to win with my ordering this item today. I had to tack on a small order of perogies also . . . hello, . . . why do you think my lunch buddy wanted to come today.
The Kubasa burger was great, meaty, properly cooked red onion and pineapple and it came with the crispiest of fries. The “Real” platter was also inhaled. We both agreed the perogies were not fantastic.
Busy busy day, had to ask for our sour cream, ketchup and more coffee but an otherwise pleasant...
Read moreI have been going here for forever! It is one of my Dad's favourite restaurants when he comes to visit.
Uncle Ed may be gone (may he RIP), but his wonderful food still lives on!
Mundare sausage is a wonderful thing, they have that! The perogies, cabbage rolls, cheese buns and cheese crepes are delicious. There are many different combination plates to choose from as well as a daily special. One of my faves is the smoked porkchop.
The plates are filling. I can usually only finish a small plate.
The servers must really enjoy working here because I swear they have all been the same ladies for the last 10 years. They are pretty fantastic!
The deli is where you can find and take home just about anything they serve on the menu and more! There is a local seller called "The Jam Lady" that has pickles and preserves that you can purchase from the retail area.
The only thing that disappoints me is that they don't have their dill sauce for sale in the freezer! I can't completely replicate the meals at...
