Visited this location today just before lunch. No line up and we were promptly seated by a very friendly hostess. They were at maybe 75% capacity, somewhat busy but a few empty tables.
We then proceeded to wait for roughly half an hour before anyone took our order. In fact we had to ask the initial hostess to find someone to help us. When our waitress finally arrived she seemed surprised we were even there. Does the other staff not communicate with each other??
During that time I noticed new patrons coming in, being seated and orders taken. Some tables even had multiple waitresses go to them to take their orders. Very disorganized.
At about 50 minutes into our stay we finally received our meals. Hoping the food would be worth the wait we stuck it out patiently all the while watching people who came in after us already half way through their meals.
I ordered the Eggs sunset (eggs Benny). The kitchen must be just as disorganized. 3 poached eggs, stacked on top of each other, all yokes broken. Not impressed.
Bottom line on this place is the owner/manager or whoever, needs to spend a little more time training his staff. We were just passing through so wouldn't have returned anyways, but others should think twice before going to the sunset grill - there are many options...
Read moreI really want to like this place but every time I go it kind of rubs me the wrong way. This food is ok and the coffee is watery but you get free refills so I don't complain too much. The Wi-Fi is so so but can't be used for any real work.
Even though they mark a soup of the day on their menu they never actually have any soup.
The omelets are huge but they always seem to overload them with cheese to the point where they're almost sickly.
The sandwiches are okay but really nothing to write home about. It's basically the same sandwich you could make at home. There is lots of seating and the washrooms are always clean and fully stocked.
The staff is friendly but almost a little bit too helpful as they will come by every couple minutes to ask you if you're ready to order but never actually give you enough time to look...
Read moreThis is the fourth visit to the Sunset Grill in Bradford, Ontario. On the previous three visits I had my favourite breakfast dish they call the 'Great Canadian Omelet', which is a generously sized treat for a healthy appetite. On these occasions the ingredients in the omelet were properly cooked, crunchy bite-sized bacon and properly sautéed and seasoned sliced mushroom pieces, with a generous amount of cheddar cheese filling. But on our recent visit it was a different story: you just could not taste the ingredients – the small fatty pieces of 'bacon' were barely warmed up and the mushroom pieces were not properly sautéed where you could actually taste them; the amount of the cheese was far less generous than on previous occasions. I don't know if we would revisit this restaurant again, unless just to try...
