Sweet B's — Restaurant in Bradford West Gwillimbury

I have pre-ordered a Birthday cake for my daughter back in February, a week before the party, so expected a fresh and good tasting cake, considering the high rating. I must say that the owner was pleasant to deal with and design of the cake was up to our expectations, however, the taste and quality of the cake itself was very disappointing for a bakery with a high rating. I often bake at home myself and rarely purchase cakes, but I have honestly had much better tasting cakes from grocery stores. This was such a disappointment for myself as well as all of our guests. We ordered a red velvet flavour and I asked in advance whether frosting is made using butter or margarine. The owner confirmed that they only use butter. Well, maybe they do, but frosting itself tasted or smelled nothing like butter. Texture was very grainy and extremely sweet as if there was only icing sugar and colour. Sponge cake itself had undissolved pieces of cocoa powder, meaning that batter was not mixed properly, and was also hard on the outer edges which is unacceptable for a "boutique" bakery, and also keeping in mind that I placed my order a week in advance, so definitely expected a fresh cake. We had to throw half of the cake. Sorry, but I do not recommend this bakery for specialty cake orders, especially if you are used to homemade quality cakes and/or expect European type of taste and quality...

I've been lucky enough to get used to the amazing D'lish Cupcakes in Toronto, so my standards for cupcakes are very high and expectations tend to be low because most other places don't even come close to comparing (I Wanna Cupcake was a great contender, but they closed their Newmarket location- I guess Newmarket didn't recognize a good thing when they had it and prefers to buy crappy packaged supermarket cupcakes). We decided to give Sweet B's a try for a Mother's Day treat and not only were we not disappointed, we were thrilled to have found such delicious, moist, fresh cupcakes - that you can tell are made of high-quality ingredients - within such close proximity! We purchased one of each of the 6 flavours available (cookies 'n cream, vanilla, flakey, double chocolate, chocolate caramel, and birthday cake) and they were all really good (chocolate caramel, vanilla, double chocolate and cookies n cream were our favourites). I usually don't buy chocolate cupcakes as they don't seem to come out as good as the others - but both the cake and the frosting on Sweet B's chocolate cupcakes were amazing in flavour and texture. I am giving a 4 star rating because I think they could use a more generous helping of icing than they came with but am very impressed overall!!! Thanks for making our Mother's Day...

Made a large order of cupcakes and a cake for Friday and I have to say I’m so happy with my experience.

I was pretty specific with how I wanted the cake and cupcakes to look. They matched the colour scheme perfectly. Unfortunately I couldn’t get any photos of the cupcakes but they matched the colour to the cake and did an ombré effect.

Bonnie did an excellent job at emailing me and following up. She confirmed with me a couple days prior for the time of pick up time which I really appreciate because I have dealt with places that completely forget your order and do not make your order in time.

As for how the cakes tasted, they were amazing! I had so many people from the baby shower ask me where I ordered them from. I took a good chunk of the cake home and the cake still tastes delicious 3 days later at room temperature. The cake was red velvet and I got chocolate, vanilla and cinnamon spice cupcakes all were very delicious.

I will definitely be ordering from Sweet B’s for all of my events...
