Calypso Garden — Restaurant in Brampton

Did a take out from Calypso Garden after almost two years, as I was craving their delicious sweet, fragrant BBQ pork on noodles. They are probably one of the few places in the GTA which serves BBQ Pork, outside of TO. Ordered a mixed BBQ Pork and fried chicken on dry noodles, plus beef with mixed veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, bok choy and carrots). Their prices remain the same, but I noticed that the portions are fairly small. The three pieces of chicken that came on top of the rice were chopped up (not whole pieces). The BBQ Pork is the show stealer - food is fresh, healthy & tasty. Don't forget to ask for the house special hot sauce!...

I recently ordered the chicken lo mein from this establishment and was sorely disappointed. The dish lacked essential components such as vegetables and the noodles were far from the traditional thicker consistency expected in lo mein. As someone who fondly remembers the delicious Chinese food from this place in my youth, I am saddened by the decline in quality under the new ownership. Such a shame inflation is a thing yes but what you don't expect is for it to reach a point where it's sad. This WAS A Brampton staple. But I ordered a mixed chow mein + mixed low mein + mixed fried rice. And they skimped out on the pork and chicken BIG time. Come on I know things are tight but no need to Rob people the way you did. So if your gonna be skimpy on the protein atleast lower the price. Will not be be sad because this has been a staple for decades in this city. On top of all that.
