This is indeed a hidden gem in a part of Brampton. I have to give a shout out to host Jamar Mcneil on CHUM 104.5 for making me crave Jamaican food because he was talking about " Easter Bun".
It instantly gave me a craving for some good Jamaican food.
This restaurant is in the same plaza as my favourite Portuguese BBQ chicken restaurant. At first I could not find it, until I realized that it is located at the other end of the plaza very close to the Dog Grooming place. And I never knew that there was a dog grooming business here. I really should drive around the entire plaza one day just to make sure that I am not missing out on any other hidden gems.
I called ahead to order a Large Jerk pork...but they were out....darn it....plan B....I ordered a Large Curry Chicken with Rice and Peas along with Qty#1 Fried Dumpling and Qty#1 Festival.
The service was friendly and efficient. It is a bit busy, but it was nice to hear the wonderful conversations between the customers and the staff. Their happy demeanor is so refreshing and welcome.
The Large portion is just that...it is HUGE. So come hungry. I have to say that this curry sauce is one of my all time favourites !!! It is such a savoury curry sauce which is mild and I just loved it period. The pieces of chicken were perfectly cooked and well seasoned. You can always taste the "Love" in this food.
I find most curry dishes either a bit too overpowering on some flavours or lacking thereof. But man, this curry is fantastic. I usually eat my portions separate. For example, I will eat the rice and peas separate from the curry chicken because I really don't like my food to be all mixed up together. I know ... I know...I must have some type of OCD issues when it comes how I eat my food in such a linear fashion.
But the curry sauce was so here, I just mixed all my rice and peas into the curry chicken. I couldn't get enough of that sauce !!!
I will be back to try other items on their menu and to check on the consistency. Consistency is always key to any great food.
So batter up and drill that stand up triple through the gap and into left field.
A++ experience all the way here. Treat yourself to some Jamaican food here and let us know what your...
Read moreI went to this establishment to get some porridge before heading to Montreal early Saturday morning. Looking at the daily specials in front of the counter and saw the Saturday special was hominy corn. I didn't realize that this came with a whole other meal which was on another menu behind the counter. The cashier was very hostile and irritated in her tone/body language as I wasn't vocal about the sides. All I wanted was the Saturday special porridge.
I do not frequent this place, it's Soupalicious for me! The workers there at Soupalicious are very respectful and patient. They KNOW their customers and know when someone is new there. They explain what comes with what.
The cashier at JHJ was so rude my spirit held me back from even inserting my debit card to pay for the order. That was cancelled.
These places need to understand that they need customers in order to keep their business running, and having a stank attitude like hers will not be good for business.
I'm not one to patronize a business just to receive such poor service.... I'm not begging you to spend my money and I don't mind making...
Read moreAlthough i feel the price is very afordable and the temperature of the food is very good and it allows u to see how fresh the food actually is i still feel like there are certain things i did not like....
Combine that with the quality of the fritter...it was very oily and crisp i almost hurt a tooth....no thank you🙅🏽
The taste of the food was quite appealing to say the least. It was flavourful and the service was fast and friendly. But when mixed with what was mentioned above it did not prove for good results. Especially since the food went through my system for almost two whole days, causing my stomach to hurt also. Overall i am not impressed and will not be going back...
