RD's BBQ — Restaurant in Brampton

I love authentic southern bbq food, especially after my experience trying Smoque n' Bones in Toronto. However, the idea of checking this place out never shout out to me. One day for curiosity sake I browsed their menu online and saw that they had a great menu with lots of options. Also, when I saw that they serve corn bread I was determined to go, since corn bread is my weakness. We entered in and to my surprise it wasn't completely empty, but rather a few tables were occupied. For some reason I expected this place to barely have anyone. Anyways, we were seated immediately, but I realized that their menu was extremely minimal compared to the one I saw online. No collard greens, no extensive list of authentic southern desserts, and no corn bread!! Regardless, I ordered the bbq chicken and asked if I could sub the fries for the baked beans, which they agreed to do without any hesitation. The server was in a grumpy mood. Whether this was a regular thing, I don't know. I also ordered a side salad with dressing on the side. My friend got the Preacher burger. The food was served within 10 minutes and looked great with a generous serving size. They did forget to put the dressing on the side for my salad, but the server gladly replaced it once I pointed it out. My chicken and beans were amazing, especially the bbq sauce on it. I literally licked my plate clean by the end. My friend really enjoyed his gluttonous burger, but couldn't manage to finish it, despite having a huge appetite, which says a lot about the burger size. Oh My God

Its amazing. Best food in brampton, hands down. Has to be up there for best BBQ in the GTA and if its not, what are we doing?! Its my favorite establishment that cooks food; any food, of any kind and BBQ isnt even my favorite food. Make that make sense. Am i biased? Maybe. I dont care. Its good enough to validate a bias.

I remember going home from work and getting a "qtr qtr extra saucy" every day. It got to a point where i was like, "okay i need to stop". Not because it was expensive, its not, not because its unhealthy, its great, but because my girlfriend started making fun of me like..."what u have for dinner...rd?" And i would answer "yes... yes i did... eat rd's for dinner" "again?" "Ya... i know" "do they know you by name yet?" "I mean... not due to lack of trying..." then they moved.

I dunno if that move was a good thing for me or not, i had to fill the empty hole... which i did with indian food (when in brampton) i guess... but its not the same. Then they came back, righr by my work. And my kid told me about it and I said, "what no... its not the same place...IT IS?!"

I got a full chicken. I just ate the whole chicken... in my car... with my hands. It was unsightly. The sounds... like an injured bear consuming this poor roasted delicious creature. I could probably go get another chicken. Im not even a big guy. 175 lbs. I have no business eating this much chicken.

Anyway, go get some chicken... the only place ive ever...

This is a very disappointing review for a restaurant I have loved so much, but this has to be said. RDs has gone in a downward spiral since they have moved to this location. My last two visits have resulted in some very bad food. The ribs were very tough, chewy, and overdone. The chicken was way too chewy (dark meat) and was cold on the inside (very gross). We ate half the ribs and maybe a few bites from the half chicken and asked for the bill. We asked for it not to be packed; because of how bad it was. This was a restaurant that was a 5 star restaurant that has lost its way and just doesn't make the food the way they used to. For anyone that visited their old original location knows how great the food was. Unfortunately, we will not be returning here and will have to simply just consider it a wasted effort. I have had ribs at Montanas that were better and Montanas is not very good for their ribs. I let our server know to pass the message to the owner on how bad the food was after we paid. I dont think the owners care anymore which explains the diminishing quality and taste of their food. She chose not to speak to us to apologize for our experience. I want to clarify that we did not want a discount just to see if someone cares, but it shows how much they care now, not like the old days of kennedy. The days where the line up would be out the door are done, and it is...
