Shy Lounge lost a star because: The claimed to be open at 11am on a Thursday but weren’t. Called with no answer (and their answering machine needs setting up too), went there around 11:15 and they were still closed. On a whim called at 11:45am and they were open. Must be part of the “authentic Caribbean experience” being on island time and all.
Anyway, the food was delicious. We ordered: Cassava balls Egg balls Poulorie Special Fried rice.
The cassava balls and egg balls were delicious. Outside crispy like home made. Poulorie tastes like its got peas in it. We got some delicious mango (so green its white) sour to go with it.
The Fried Rice was fresh and delicious but not “Guyanese Chinese”. More like a neighbourhood creole shop. Lots of fresh vegetables: bora, cabbage and carrots, no corn. Great colour and texture though.
Unfortunately they dont cook pork. They are halaal though.
Prices are reasonable but $2.50 for an eggball is too much.
