I had a great solo dine in experience on march 3rd of 2024; great server although she was the only one working that night and it had been pretty busy. Because of that night I decided to come again for dinner with my friend recommending pos buenos as a good spot and was greatly disappointed. I ordered shrimp tacos for the first time not knowing the shrimp was breaded and when I received it , I still tried to eat one taco before complaining. I realized I couldn’t enjoy it and politely asked to order something else of the menu . Immediately I was met with disscontempt from the server that had a friendly face when we initially walked in. I received my new order of beef tacos and asked if I could only be charged for the one taco I ate , yet again I was met with aggression from the server who told me she would get deducted from her own pay if I did not pay for the meal that I barely ate. She also insisted that she wouldn’t pay for it so I either pay for it myself and accept a reimbursement in the form of cake. If that is true that returned food gets deducted from the servers pay then that is a very terrible business practice as it wasn’t anyone fault that I didn’t like the food. I was confused and so was my friend because we both approached the situation politely, she then began speaking to me in a condescending tone and offered a slice of cake to reimburse for the fact when all I wanted was to be charged for the second plate I had ordered and not the first one. We also asked to speak to the manager that the server allegedly spoke to but I’m sure the manager was either not in or not doing their job correctly. The server had lied twice and said the manager was very “busy” then lied again and said the manager wasn’t at the store. My friend asked for the number of the manager and the server made up some excuse and didn’t give us the number. Till the every end the server had an attitude and was very passive aggressive ; I asked for my receipt and she acted like she didn’t hear me and gave my friend a receipt instead of to me , which felt like it was done on purpose. I was deeply uncomfortable w the whole experience and did not finish my second order of tacos and instead decided to pay and leave. I was still double charged for food I did not consume or even enjoy. The staff were uninviting once I had a valid complaint and made us feel like we were doing something wrong for speaking up. It felt quite racially motivated as we were the only black people in the restaurant although we were very respectful and polite & just wanted to eat some good food. The server was very defensive and made the experience a sour one. I don’t recommend coming to eat here unless you want to be double charged, support shady business practices and be treated with vitriol if you speak up for yourself.

Had a huge craving for authentic tacos after watching Taco Chronicles on Netflix. This was one of the closest ones in Brampton that wasn't a large chain like Taco Bell. It's located in downtown Brampton, so there's street parking, but I would suggest parking at the underground City Hall Parking Garage, it's literally right across the street. It is a smaller place, so I would suggest reservations if you aren't coming on a weeknight, especially with current COVID-19 restrictions. As soon as we stepped in, we were engulfed with a plume of delicious spices and cooking meat. We started off with the Pos Bueno Jalapeños stuffed with shrimp. These were moist jalapeño peppers stuffed with a shrimp paste and fired with a nice kick. We also ordered al pastor and carnitas tacos first, which weren't quite filling, so also ordered another chorizo tacos. The first two orders took a while to come out, but also came out quite cold (mind you, the front door was propped open for about 15 minutes during this time). Despite that, the al pastor tacos were so packed full of flavour, and the carnitas tasted slightly charred, but still good. The chorizo tacos came to us piping hot, even the tortillas were slightly crisp along the edges, and these were the best - so aromatic with the spices and the slight fat from the pork sausage dribbling out as you're biting in. Going to a Mexican joint, we had to order some suitable drinks: mandarin-flavoured Jarritos and a horchata agua fresca. I've never tasted anything horchata-flavoured before, but the agua fresca was a light, milky and nutty drink that smoothed down the heat from jalapeño seeds. If you've ever had a Chinese vitasoy drink, it tastes like that, but with a bit of a nutty finish. The service was great for a Friday night. The two girls were the hostess/server/bartender for the whole night, and they were kind, courteous and efficient. The Latin music with the terra cotta dishes and decor made for a really enjoyable atmosphere that wasn't over the top. The food needs to be a little more consistent, but otherwise it was a great visit! Looking forward to the next time!

Edit to add: there is a review from an user named Aaditya Maheshwari from 3 weeks ago that posted a picture of the cote corn and you will see no spice, no chili powder, no cilantro on the corn yet it is advertised on the menu. This is hard review to write. All the waiters and staff were extremely pleasant. The problem comes with the quality of the food, and the expectation of the menu versus what was received at the table. We had one order of the cote corn, which had the appropriate mayo and cheese but there was zero chili powder on it zero cilantro, and it was like it had no seasoning other than the dairy products. Then we ordered a drink called the cucaracha (sorry for misspelling), it was tequila and Kahlua, and the menu stated that it would come on fire for $12. A Waiter issued me the drink with a big smile, but it was just the liquor in a small tumbler, but it was not on fire. Also our entrees were unequal, we both ordered a three set of tacos and only my meal had seasoned rice, and I ordered the fish tacos and they were very lackluster. My partner ordered lengua (beef) and it was so flavorful and tasty that it was the most standout moment of the night, but did not come with the rice. I would come back for the beef tacos, the fish tacos definitely not, bc they are more designed for texture, and if you like texture of crunch that is the only benefit for fish tacos. I wish we did not go on a Sunday bc I felt like the service was lackluster due to that.

We came as a group of 6. The owner/server served us some complimentary chips and salsa which was nice. When we ordered, our food came relatively fast and hot.

I'll start with the positives, we ordered some nachos and authentic tacos, and they are not cheap with the portions of meat. The tacos were really filling and flavorful, there wasn't much to them other than meat and a bit if salsa, but that's what was great about them, simple and to the point. The tacos speak for themselves I'd recommend them! Another dish whose name is fleeting my mind at the moment, was served on a bed of shredded lettuce, was meaty and looked a bit like bigger versions of taquitos. It was pretty enjoyable as well, I just think preferably I'd want them spicier or more flavorful but there's hot sauce for that! And the owner/server gave us a great selection of hot sauces which we appreciated. The plating for all the dishes are so beautiful as well! Really loved the decor overall. We also ordered churros which came nice and hot and were also delicious. The availability churros at this restaurant was the main reason we all came to try Pos Buenos.

Unfortunately for the rest of us, the items we chose from the menu were not what we expected.

Now please note: the remainder of the review is based solely on personal taste preferences and may not have anything to do with the authenticity and quality of this restaurant.

One of the dishes was a mole enchilada, and it had a very distinctive flavour that we weren't expecting. I can't say I've had more than one type of mole in the past but the owner/server assured us that this was very authentic homemade Mexican mole. I expected it to have some cocoa as a flavour, but this mole seemed to he overpowered with cocoa. Another enchilada was ordered with a green sauce (I'm sorry I can't recall its name), that was definitely better but was sweeter than expected, which isn't a bad thing. Overall, it was enjoyable. My boyfriend and I both got Mexican street corn (elotes), and to be honest, I was disappointed with them. I don't blame the owner/server at all. It clearly stated on the menu that it was made with mayo, cheese, and some chilli flakes, but I think it was because I've had homemade elotes from a close Mexican family friend of mine and expected it to be similar to that. I'm guessing there's different styles, and this one was still good (I loved the cheese they used-- it crumbles like feta but tastes like mozzarella)! But not a favourite.

The music was also great, but sometimes was a bit too loud for our liking, I believe that since it seemed to be a rotation of YouTube videos, the sound quality would spike up or down based on the video playing which made the ambience a bit inconsistent.

I think despite the experience for some of the dishes, I'd probably come back to try other items...

It’s very unfortunate when poor customer service ruins your entire dining experience. On Sunday, I went to Pos Bueno with my friend just to grab a bite and enjoy the weather. She recommended the restaurant as she had a good experience the first time she went. Everything was going well, the server appeared to be kind at first. I got my order of beef rib tacos (which were very fatty, not sure if that’s how it’s supposed to be. They were okay though) my friend had shrimp tacos however, she was not expecting them to be breaded. We asked if we could replace them and get them taken off the bill. The server said that she could not take it off. The server was asked to speak to the manager about this as well. (Just want to point out that we were not being irate customers, just inquiring as civilized people. We both know what it’s like to work in the food service industry and how difficult customers can be). When the second plate of tacos came, my friend asked for the shrimp tacos to be removed and taken off the bill, the server said that she cannot take the food off of the bill but she can remove the plate from the table in which she did extremely quickly (should’ve stopped her but at this point we could tell that she was getting upset over a simple request). We were both shocked, if you can’t take it off the bill then you cannot take the food away without confirming that’s what the customer wants. So when she came back to the table, she said it can’t be taken off because it will come out of her pockets (???) and it’s not “her fault that my friend didn’t like the food” again, we were still being cordial customers, the server became defensive as if we were being disrespectful and asking her to do the impossible. In the midst of talking, she walked away at least twice. Finally she offered a slice of cake to “compensate” which was $11 but of course that doesn’t make up for the $17 she basically threw away. After some time she decided to give my friend two free slices of cake (which were bad by the way). So instead of taking $17 off of the bill, she gave away $22 worth of free food. That made absolutely no sense. She also lied to us, initially stating that the manager was very busy and then the second time around stating that the manager wasn’t even in the building. When I asked if there was a specific contact number for the manager she tried to act like she didn’t understand what I was saying. I thought about calling but I have a feeling it wouldn’t make a difference. She completely ruined the experience and needs to touch up on her customer service skills. Horrible. Very nasty behaviour. I imagine she gets into full blown arguments with customers who actually are irate. Do...
