2021-07-02_Decided to make lunch quick, easy and delicious and ordered a Familiar personal size pizza for my wife and I. However, I decided to ask for half of the pizza to be drizzled with hot honey, which is typically on their ‘Pauline J'. GAME CHANGER!!!! First time I have ever tried hot honey and on the 'Familiar' no less. As I mentioned before, I like my traditional pepperoni pizza to remain TRADITIONAL. Now I will have to order it from the best pizza place in Brampton with it all the time. The right amount of this honey only enhances the flavour of the pepperoni and creates the wonderful play of salty and slightly sweet - in essence, an Italian version of UMAMI (just Google the term when you get a chance...lol). I would highly recommend picking one up for lunch or dinner and experiencing the taste combination. Now if only they would bring back those amazing cannolli and the San Pellegrino chinotto...
Was on 'stay-cation' and running a few errands around the area when I decided to visit this place and order lunch. My wife and I have ordered their veal sandwiches here before and have enjoyed them immensely. However, being Italian myself, I hardly every order Italian take-out simply because my wife (not Italian) makes wicked Italian food and my mother always cooks for us when we visit her and my Dad. However, I felt like having pizza as did my wife and so we ordered their 'Blasphemy' pizza (for my wife who enjoys pineapple on pizza) and the 'Traditional' for myself. When I ordered the Blasphemy, the gentleman behind the counter jokingly gave me 'the maleocchio' and I had to explain that the pizza was for my wife and quickly redeemed myself by ordering the Traditional (pepperoni and cheese). The restaurant also sells Italian classical pop drinks like Orangina (yes....they got Orangina) and the only chinotto drink worth buying, SAN PELLEGRINO CHINOTTO. Conclusion: AWESOME PIZZA. The crust was cooked perfectly - thin, slightly charred at the edges, crisp at the bottom with the little bit of chew one would expect from really excellent Italian stone oven pizza. Since this was my first time ordering their pizza, I usually order the most basic pizza so that I can judge them on how well they can make the simplest of dishes. I do the same thing when it comes to rice at most Asian restaurants, ordering plain steamed rice. If an Italian restaurant specializing in pizza cannot get a tomato sauce right or bake a simple pizza crust, then the rest of the pizza selections will not matter to me. NOT HERE HOWEVER. Everything about my simple 'Traditional' pizza was as authentic and as true to being a perfect pizzeria-style pizza can be. And the personal 11" pizza was just enough for a big guy like me. I will definitely be ordering our Friday evening pizzas from That Italian Place from now on. WORTH THE DRIVE and PRICE. Oh yeahhhhhh....they make a wicked awesome veal parm...
Read moreWas a happy repeat customer over 15 years, recommended their family business to many business partners, and my family. Picking up my pizza order, wow unexpected discrimination, and disrespect. First and pray the last time during this new government regime. The first girl, no welcome hello just “you need to wear a mask”. I shared am medically exempted, she repeated again “but you have to wear one, if not go outside, I’ll bring your pizza.” I repeated cannot wear one, meantime another girl from the back getting customers plate of food, angrily “you need a mask, you need one I’ll give you one” I replied firmly cannot wear one, and shared our bylaw. She replied don’t yell at me, I advised not yelling you’re not listening. Ignorantly reacted “I’m outta here, not serving her”. A man from back quickly approached me, Paul repeated the same. I repeated the same. He said afraid of bylaw want no trouble. I assured him the bylaw and am ok to speak with them if the pop by within the 2 mins, which would’ve been me picking up my pizza. Paul advised “will bring my order out to my car but no service inside, people who cannot wear a mask, yah so they say. When I say no service, those people put it on”. While he was talking a girl passed my order, firmly “It’s my business, here take your pizza on the house and go. I said want to pay, he said no just go, I need to respect my customers who are compliant.” What was hurtful was being treated as such, yes he can immorally unlawfully refuse my business, but why not be respectful, just say next time I will not be serviced inside. I would’ve paid left and never returned. Not write this truthful awful experience, it was belittling in addition to my other current challenges. Paul and his staff’s anger, frustration take that energy seek a positive resolution. We the customers ALL of us make your business successful, not the government. Remember they mandated your business to close most part of year and still cannot open at full capacity. Ask yourself...why was your dine with only 2 people on a Friday night? Educate your lawful rights, welcome everyone, with compassion in return God will save your...
Read moreBeware if you have severe allergies. We have never had an issue before and used to absolutely love this place but today just ruined it. We asked the woman at the counter what was on the one sandwich and she mentioned meats cheeses etc, so my boyfriend ordered it. Upon arrival at the table he noticed there was pesto. I brought it up to the counter and told her she never said there was pesto, she stated well it's on the sign, so I asked if there were tree nuts as my boyfriend has a severe tree nut allergy. She went to ask and returned saying yes so I asked what were his options without tree nuts. I understand the allergy should have been mentioned at first but as I said before, never had an issue and if she said there was pesto we would not have gotten the sandwich. She gave us two options and he chose one, it was delivered and he began eating. Well... The bread had walnuts IN IT. Luckily I had medication on me and gave it to him right away. I returned to the counter ONCE AGAIN and she said there shouldn't be nuts in it. I told her "well there are", she came out to take a look as she didn't believe us and said that the bread orders are always different so she never knows what is in them. She asked him if he was okay, meanwhile I'm freaking out. She asked him what he would like instead and he chose a hot sandwhich, to which she messed up on the toppings he chose but we just wanted to leave and get home asap. Needless to say we are extremely disappointed in the lack of knowledge for such a common allergy, especially one that is commonly deadly. The first sandwhich with a bit of pesto was our error for not saying something, we understand that. The second, FILLED WITH NUTS, not cool.
Response to reply** I'm not sure how I could ever go back there when we told your staff about the allergy and we were served food with the allergen....
