Aaltos Brandon — Restaurant in Brandon

Alright, here for the weekend, and ate I guess alil later ( 7pm-ish) the Tavern was already closed, so my partner and I joined afew of her friends who were already seated in the bar area in Aaltos. There were maybe two other tables when we sat down, so they were not overly busy.

Anyways, I quickly found out they had been sitting there for nearly 20 minutes and hadn't even been talked to/acknowledged; unacceptable. I waited maybe three minutes and walked up, waited patiently for another minute, and finally got to talk to a staff member. Told them that the ladies over at that table had been waiting nearly 20 minutes; response " it's only me" when I saw what looked to be two other staffers but who knows what their role actually was but they were behind the bar.

After their response, I responded, " I understand, but it's still not acceptable." About two minutes later, we were able to order drinks and food by the other staff there.

Now that food is ordered, we waited probably 30-35 minutes for pretty basic food, and honestly, it is not worth the wait or the money. I had the raspberry Chipotle wings, which were not bad, but barely Luke warm, my partner, she had a Cajun chicken wrap, which barely had any chicken, her friends split what was supposed to be DRY ribs and salt and pepper wings, but they got bbq wet ribs and pretty sad looking wings. The other two ladies had what I would say was pedestrian looking burgers.

Anyways, no follow up, it was slightly busier while we ate, but considering the amount of evens going on in that hotel you would of thought better planning/staffing would have occurred,but that was not the case. All that to say, customer service was terrible enough that waters were never given, and simple pop refill too far of a reach.

For what they charge in there, it's just not acceptable. Will not be returning, and judging by other reviews this is not a new issue, so perhaps when deciding for yourselves, plan ahead and make this establishment a last resort to lessen your risk of this experience.

Oh side note, we also got to experience a nesr domestic situation develop right in front of us, which added to the whole...

Ate here twice on our vacation. The first time we were there the service was very slow but the restaurant was not packed. The second time we were there we asked whether the danish we ordered for a child contained cream cheese or whether it was undercooked, the server shrugged off the question with a response of “I don’t know, I have never had the danish”. It seemed like the server was not coached on how to address concerns about food quality. After asking them to check with the kitchen, they still could not confirm whether the danish had cream cheese or was undercooked, and took it off the bill. The butter tasted rancid on the toast but nothing was done to correct this….no offer to replace it, and the only spread available for 2 orders of toast was one package of strawberry jam! Service poor. Had to remind waitress at least twice to bring some items. My poached eggs on the Breakfast Poutine came runny - I wasn't asked how I wanted it. I like it med-hard. They took it back and came back 15 mins later with boiled eggs instead of poached. They took it back and I waited for another 15 minutes for a med-cooked poached egg with no hollandaise sauce on it. Much of my hollandaise sauce was lost the 1st time they took it back - I just gave my eggs, not the whole dish - my choice. They said they couldn't poach the egg hard for Breakfast Poutine - weird! POSITIVE NOTE: The waitress was friendly and they took 20% off the 2 meals that had to be returned for eggs...
