Horrible food. Horrible coffee. Today was my second and last time coming to this nasty little place. The last time I was here I ordered an americano and a piece of one of the big cakes. Both to go as I was on a road trip. The coffee tasted like burnt eggs with a hint of turpentine. I tried to eat the cake later. It had gone off. It tasted like soap and expired milk. Today I gave this place a second chance. Big mistake. First red flag: everything was wrapped in plastic. Lots of excuses for doing this but unfortunately this is an indication of poor stock management. Quality and presentation always suffer. I had a cookie that had no flavour other than old cheap flour. I had them peel the wrap off a muffin that looked suspiciously like it came from Costco. My mistake... it came from Kuipers -a local cheap supply bakery. The muffin was almost hollow and tasted like cheap expired flour and soap. I brought it to the counter and told one of the staff how horrible it was. Second red flag: The manager was working behind the counter when I returned the muffin. I sat in the cafe for another 30 mins because I had to get some project planning done and needed a table. AT NO POINT DID THE MANAGER COME OUT TO TALK TO ME. I just returned a muffin and complained. My coffee cooled enough for me to try it. No change from last time -burnt eggs and turpentine. It tasted so bad my mouth became irritated. This place deffinitely is Forbidden Flavours. Anyone who loves food and coffee with flavour is forbidden to go here. Hopefully, after this place goes under, the next owners do...
Read moreI have been a long time customer to forbidden flavors often spending a fair bit per visit aswell as I have brought roughly 30 people to their business as customers in my travels. Often times makin trips from winnipeg to brandon as a Saturday trip just to go to forbidden flavors.
But my last visit the manager and her Co worker were hanging out in the parking lot and they watched me try and park my truck out of the way at the entrance bc parking lot is small they weren't overly busy.
But the reason I will not be returning to my once favorite business in brandon bc instead of being reasonable grown adults and telling me they weren't happy with me trying to not have my work truck hit in there parking lot again, they sent an angry email to my employer sayin I was actively trying to harm their business while also trying to make my employer look bad.
Very unprofessional and petty childish behavior considering they watched me park then walk into their business where I spent 200 dollars on coffee beans aswell as some treats bc to retreat to my hotel after working a long day receiving very sad news about...
Read moreLocal and independent coffee shops struggle to maintain a quality product during restricted service as mandated by the Province. This statement is more important for those locations who do not have corporate backing to protect them during the difficult period that occurred outside of their control. Understanding the above, this location delivers great quality products and excellent service, despite the challenges from Covid-19. It was refreshing to see a friendly smile...well not exactly, the mask covered the smile...but you can hear the smile in their voice. The coffee was hot and didn't disappoint on flavour. If I was a full-time resident of Brandon, this location would definitely be my go-to spot for a quality beverage! If you are still reading this review because you are not sure you should try them out...get over there now and prove me wrong. (And no one paid me to write this...I call them like I...
