On the Saturday of the August long weekend, my wife and I decided we would use our $70 gift card to treat ourselves to a lunch at the Brown's here in Brandon.
I had the Butcher Block Burger and my wife had the Seared Ahi Tuna Crunch. Both were very delicious, as expected. With our meals we just had diet cokes. But we decided to treat ourselves to a cocktail, so we ordered a Pineapple Jalapeño Marg to share, unfortunately when they brought us the drink they only gave me a refill on my cola, and not my wife, perhaps thinking she was switching to drinking the cocktail?
When the meal wrapped up and it came time to pay and redeem our gift cards (which were digital cards on my phone) the waitress asked me to enter my PIN on the wireless pay terminal and when I passed the terminal back to her she asked for my phone so that she could enter the gift card numbers. She then placed my phone on the pay terminal triggering a wireless payment which was immediately approved. She then promptly thanked me, gave me the receipt and said, "Oops, I guess you will just have to come back." She then took off with the terminal and a 20% tip, which brought the total to $110 and change - for a 2 person lunch.
The service, along with the drink we ordered, left a really bitter taste in our mouths. We generally love Brown's, but this time the service was a bit to be desired, especially if you are going to ask patrons over $100 dollars for a 2-person lunch.
Yes, we will be back, but next time we will have to be a bit more careful with the staff, and perhaps a tad bit more 'demanding'. And a tip for the management at Brown's: a little bit of training goes a...
Read moreFirst off, we were in a large group so I'm not sure about normal days. But I hate to say criticisms especially because I work in a a restaurant myself. But let me start it off... No.1: I didn't end up getting the food I had originally ordered (we had ordered a week prior so they could accommodate such a large group) I decided to try and not make a headache as I know we really strained them with so many people... No.2: my burger had obviously been sitting for awhile. The meat was colder than room temp all the way through and the whole thing was dry and falling apart... No.3: my plate had been very rushed and not included any garnish, but I didn't tie this into my review because it's not a huge deal. But when I pay $25 for a burger I didn't order I expect it to at least have a bit of professionalism. No.4: the soda I had ordered tasted very bad as if the machines either hadn't been cleaned. Or the pumps weren't getting enough syrup to the fountain. It's very hard to mess up pre made soda. This is why I gave it 2 stars, the building is very nice and modern with a classy feel. But why would I come to a restaurant if the foods no good. There's an A&W right next door and it might be the...
Read moreWent here for a friends birthday. We reserved a table for 7, told it was an hour wait, which was fine. We were told we’d get a call once our table became available, but never did. When we arrived they said they cancelled our table because they couldn’t get ahold of us (they never called the number we left). Then changed their story and said that the guest cancelled the reservation…another false statement. After questioning them on their false statements they ended up giving us a table. Let the server know it was our friends birthday, she immediately got strange about it, and stated that they don’t do anything for birthdays. I have been to browns on other occasions (very recently) where free desserts were offered. When questioned on this, she very hesitantly said she’d see what she could do. Then retracted her statement and said “sometimes” they do free desserts. When we got our table we saw our server 3 times throughout the evening. Ran out of water and had nothing to drink during the meal. Felt like a very unwelcoming atmosphere. I usually enjoy my time while at browns, but can’t help to feel that the servers there were disrespectful and intolerant. Gave 2 stars, as the...
