This was the most unsatisfying experience ever. Though we did arrive an hour and 45 minutes before close I still think that is more than enough time to have a enjoyable experience at a restaurant being a waitress myself. As soon as we walked in we weren't even greeted or looked at, we were unpleasantly seated at a table (as if we annoyed the waitresses) and before even sitting down we were rudley offered a drink from 2 feet away from our table in such rush. We had a question about the ordering process as it's was on an iPad and we're rudley answered after having to clarify a simple question that apparently seemed like we were asking for one of her limbs. Once our food came it was brought out in the incorrect order. We were more than rushed and treated poorly. 2 of our orders were missing. And 1 was double the portion we asked for. Once we finally felt pushed enough to leave (barely feeling as if we could finish our dinner in peace) we were told we have to pay 2 extra dollars for some barely considered left over food. For 32 dollars before tax and tip if I'm full I have more than a right to leave food behind as I am paying a flat rate regardless. All in all she probably took the two dollars as a tip knowing that she wouldn't get anything from us because of her poor service. Sad, as I said I am a waitress and would have been generous and given her a significant tip if her service was not below par. Never going here again I would rather drive to...
Read moreGood food quality. Service is quick and friendly enough. What brings down the rating is the unreasonable pricing structure. The adult prices are more or less on par with other similar restaurants. However, the kids are all charged the same price and doesn't make sense; for example, does it make sense to charge a 6 year old the same amount as a 10 year old?
We frequent a restaurant chain called August 8 in Oakville, Burlington, and Stoney Creek. They have same or better quality of food and kids are charged by age (I think $1.50 per year). For a family of 6, this makes a pretty sizeable difference.
When we go to Joy Sushi, we end up paying about $50 more for roughly about the same quality of food. So needless to say, we try to go to August 8 as often as we can manage instead of Joy Sushi. A shame really because JS is so close to home and we would frequent it a lot more if the prices were more reasonable.
JS, please adopt the age based pricing structure for kids.
2023 Update: The pricing hasn't changed, but the food has. I'm bumping this up to 4 stars. While August 8th's quality has plummeted, Joy Sushi's quality has improved. I hadn't gone back in a while and was very pleasantly surprised. The staff now wear all matching black uniforms and though it doesn't effect the food, it changes the atmosphere (no more track pants...
Read moreCame in for Lunch/Dinner offering on my way home from the airport with my mother. There was ONE main thing when we arrived:
Dine-In was almost $100/two All You Can Eat OR Take-Out.... There were no options for sitting down for a quick bite (we did not have time & there was quite literally no way of doing so due to said restrictions), which was extremely dissapointing.
For what we ordered, it costed us a good amount, and it wasn't amazing - The Miso tasted bland and kind of broke my heart, & the side salad was barely a "salad": the amount of lettuce + veggies you receive in the to-go container could maybe be a snack to a rabbit. Overall, the cuts of the fish within the rolls were great portions, however the sashimi fish was so thin, almost everything besides the shrimp tore off onto the sticky rice bed no matter how gentle you were being.
I very much appreciate how patient staff was with us ordering out, but we definitely expected a little better for the general reviews/menu selection. We may have been kind of diasapointed, but there's easily room for improvement & was otherwise a decent car meal ❤️. It may have also just been an extremely busy day, as some of the staff seemed quite busy attending to tables...
