My friend and I decided to shop at Queensborough Landing today. We drove around trying to decide where we would go for lunch. She suggested Vietnamese and that is how we found ourselves sitting here. I frequently shop at Walmart and have seen this restaurant but have never sampled their food. My friend ordered the lemongrass chicken on rice and I chose the spring roll with lemongrass chicken on vermicelli noodles…. I was truly appalled when my dish arrived…. I have NEVER seen spring rolls look so yellow with a sickly orange color to them along with the soggy slices of chicken on top of overcooked gummy noodles. There was no Thai basil or sprouts or lime/lemon included which is not normal. I tried the gummy noodles with a piece of the chicken and it tasted exactly what it looked like. I then took a bite of the spring roll which had a stale foul taste to it. I watched my friend finish her meal and quickly asked for the bill. When the server saw that I barely ate the food I told him that the food was not good, he mumbled something which sounded like he would remove it off our bill but of course he did not. I did not argue about the bill. I just paid the bill knowing that I will NEVER be returning to this establishment again. You have been warned. If you want affordable, fresh Vietnamese food that is nearby try Little Minh’s located at...
Read moreI was expecting to get disappointed by the amount of negative reviews of this restaurant but I’m actually impressed.
I have reviewed about 40 pho restaurants in Vancouver (check profile if you don’t believe me). And I must say, this restaurant deserves a much better rating.
Then I read the negative reviews. Dang, some are actually restaurant mistakes. But majority of the bad reviews are people who have never eaten at a pho restaurant. Seriously, if you’ve been at pho restaurant, you know they leave a container of chopsticks, napkins and soup spoons on each table so the patrons can use.
I keep reading the word hygiene on the negative reviews and this place seems a lot better than many Vancouver restaurants. Tables are clean, chopsticks, spoons, dishes all clean. And on top of that, the bean sprouts were extremely fresh and crisp.
We ordered pho. The broth is light yet flavourful. A bit low on the salt side which is a major plus for me. I add extra sriracha as my ‘salt’.
The pho is great. Good portion and good size and great value.
I would definitely eat here again next time I go to the...
Read moreWorst pho ive had in vancouver. Hmm usually dont want to write this. but the food here is really sub par.
Ordered the special beef noodle. its was fine.. but bland and the soup was like flavorless. the beef was already cooked? also my bean sprouts and basil were old. some of my bean sprouts were blue at the end. the worst was my tendon was mushy and cold? wth?!?! pretty disgusting also green onion look bland green. 3/10
The tea is good though! and service is ok normal.
Ordered 2 appies. Chicken wings and springs rolls. Usually these are bomb. Everything Pho place I go to, never had a problem with these items at all. Anyways the wings are like old? or taste like frozen pre packaged. Honestly awful! They were dark brown and overly breaded. springs rolls tasted fine. Until the middle, its got this weird crab or like curry taste. What the hell? I've never tasted a spring roll like that ever. 1/10
My wife tried bun bo hue, said was different and tasted odd.
