Like other reviewers, my love affair for this place started strong, then quickly cascaded downhill in a few short months.
The first time we went, we were seated and served quickly; the meal was delicious and the price tag was good. This place is 5 minutes from home, so win-win.
We came back again a few weeks later, fired up by our first experience, but the halo isn't quite as shiny this time. The service was ok, and the food was fairly bland. Still for the price tag and lack of commute, it beats the other local options.
Third time was not a charm. When we arrived it was busy, but this is par for the course. There was one bigger table open that seats four, but the owner suggested we wait for a smaller table. We suggested otherwise. I don't know if they have switched cooks but the potatoes were feral and tasted like plastic. The price tag and proximity to home does little to compensate.
This Sunday was the last time for us. We got there and of course it is busy. Three other people showed up while we were waiting, and the hostess seated them ahead of us. I overheard one of the patrons tell her we were there first, but that doesn't stop anyone. We finally got a table and a few menus, and had drink orders taken, and that's the last we see of the staff for some time. We tried to flag someone down but with no success. I saw a few other tables nearby attempting to do the same. The waitress on hand makes 3rd, 4th and 5th visits to tables who already have food, and steering clear of those waiting to order. No clue what happened to the drinks we ordered. A table came in after us and had their order taken (I'm sensing a pattern here.) Finally a waitress made her way over and took our orders, mumbling something about being busy. It was clearly busy and I get that - the onus is on the manager to have more staff on the floor, agreed. I ordered a breakfast item and my partner ordered a lunch item, a bowl of soup to be exact. Over an hour later it arrived, with the waitress mumbling yet again, this time about computer problems. After waiting for an hour, one would think that there would be a significant adjustment to the bill, but alas, nothing. On top of that, they brought my partner a cup of soup rather than a bowl. My partner politely mentioned asking for a bowl and not a cup, and the server argued about why she brought a cup. Easily remedied, sure, but really insult to injury at this point.
We will not be back. I had told a number of people who live in the neighbourhood about this place when I was initially smitten with this place, and will make sure to update...
Read moreMy first time I was served by Rhonda. Service was fast, friendly and attentive. The meatloaf special was good with generous helping of not over-cooked veggies. I thought "I've got to come back here!"
My second time I was served by a young woman who said she was tired. Later, as my pint of Sleeman's was nearly finished, I ordered another beer. That's when I entered the Twilight Zone...
"Can I get a glass of beer?" I asked. She stood there looking puzzled.
"A glass of beer" I said again.
She still looked puzzled "...you want a glass...?"
"Yes, of beer!"
She comes back with an empty glass and asks "like this?"
I looked at her with disbelief and said "Yes...but with BEER IN IT."
She makes a face like I'm a weirdo and asks "You want beer in it?!?"
"Yes! I want a glass of beer! That's a glass... with beer in it!"
Then she says "But you've already got a beer." That, blew my mind.
"It's nearly empty - I'd like another. But I don't want another full pint, Just. A. Glass. Of. Beer. My God, how can you not understand a customer ordering a glass of beer?!?"
She went back to the bar and discussed it with someone. It took them over five minutes to figure out...
I thought I was being pranked by hidden camera.
When I got the bill Pint of beer $3.95 Glass of beer $3.50 (half as much beer)
It's amazing how much difference the server makes in your...
Read moreSo, me and the wife decided to go for a late lunch at this place called Sixth Street Grill. She had gone there with her mom last week and couldn't stop raving about it. She's been bugging me to go ever since, so we took a stroll on our day off and ended up there. Let me tell ya, it was even better than she said! We shared a bacon turkey wrap with fries and a couple of Heinekens. I'm a big guy with a healthy appetite, and I was totally satisfied after we split the meal. Now I'm sorry my wife took a quick Pic for her mom and I was to busy eating to get my phone out, couldn't stop myself long enough to take it out I was really enjoying my meal. We sat on the beautiful little outdoor patio and enjoyed the sun, and the servers were great. They were very busy for the little out of the way place that it is, my wife was even trying to wait a minute walked right up to the bar and just asked if we could go to the patio (nobody else was out there) and placed are order at the same time. 5 to 7 minutes later, out came the food, beers were there in under 2. Excellent job ladies, you are fantastic thank you for the pleasure of your establishment and the wonderful energy 😀 I truly enjoyed are time there from beginning to the moment we left. We will be back, promise. I will update this too, with better pictures! #foodie #patio #greatservice...
