I first learned about Irving House while reading Ghost Stories of British Columbia. The house was featured as one that has had numerous sightings over the decades. Having had a few experiences in my lifetime, I thought I'd visit and see if I felt anything.
During the tour, I hung back in the doorway of the dining room because I was hearing something. It sounded like a dinner party, complete with cutlery touching dishes, happy talking, and laughing. It sounded tinny and far away but it was undeniable and lasted at least 15 seconds. A loud voice from the tour group down the hall startled me and I could no longer hear the party.

Read moreI recently had the pleasure of visiting Irving House, and it was a truly enjoyable experience. The historic home is beautifully preserved, offering a fascinating glimpse into life in the late 1800s. Walking through the rooms felt like stepping back in time, with authentic furnishings and intricate details that tell the story of the Irving family and the era they lived in.
Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable, sharing rich historical facts, personal stories, and insights that brought the house and its history to life. His passion for the subject made the tour engaging from start to finish, and I left with a much deeper appreciation for this important piece of local heritage.
I highly recommend a visit to Irving House for anyone interested in history, architecture, or simply enjoying a well told story in a...
Read moreA hidden gem in the historic city of new westminster. Scottish and British inspired architecture as well as interiors. Sculptures and artifacts from the Victorian period are all over the house. Overall a nice experience. (Don't forget to keep some change for donation by choice, also when you are done with the tour ask them to tell some exciting ghost stories...
