This place is located conveniently just next to a hotel and of course, riverside. If you're able to get a seat outside you'll enjoy the view (they have nice flowers on the patio). Inside seating is nothing special, it can get pretty hot, because of all the glass above your head. We came here twice. Once in the evening and the second time in the morning, just after opening.
The evening brought us gellato that we were craving before bedtime. Sadly, I was a bit disappointed (maybe my expectations were too high, or it was just bad luck). As promising as it looked, and the assortment of tastes they had... in the end, all three flavours that I've tried felt like one. I couldn't tell them apart. For trying a good gellato (but of course more expensive one), rather try Bella Gelateria in Downtown. This one is not worth the price in my opinion.
The morning was more promising. The outside seating gets full fast (especially those with umbrellas), so send someone in for your order or you go in and somebody else holds down the fort (there's no waiter service, or at least there wasn't any at 9am). We ordered some paninis for breakfast and coffee. The line started to build up pretty fast, but the wait was not that bad.
Paninis were good, had proper, tasty (not sweet!!) bread and enough toppings. They were warmed up, so it was a great bite to start the morning with. We tried Canuck and Salvatore Panini. Both were delicious! I would come back for them again. People seem to come over here for pizza too, but we only had two days, so there wasn't a chance to try it out. Maybe next time.
The staff is a bit slow and can seem unfriendly, but I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, cause it was "early" Saturday morning (9am).
So, the final verdict: if you're hungry, definitely come in for a bite, and grab some paninis (or try a pizza). If you're up for an ice cream,...
Read moreProbably the worst ‘authentic’ gelato I’ve had accompanied with unfriendly staff that didn’t even greet back. I got a lemon gelato and I expected it to taste like any other gelato I’ve had in Italy but unfortunately it tasted like a Ricola cough drop. If you’re looking for a place that will offer you more authentic flavours I recommend going literally anywhere else but here.
Update: I find it very disappointing that stating my opinion has been intended malicious. Reviews are meant to be honest in order to let potential customers know if a place is offering what they’re looking for, and if it’s not then they can be better directed somewhere else for a more satisfactory experience. I am not offended by “action” being taken but I do find it pathetic that something that was simply my experience and a recommendation is intended to be taken down just because you can’t handle someone not liking your business. Very childish. Also a way to manipulate your reviews and bad customer service. Also here’s a picture of my ice cream along with my family’s, which I didn’t even comment on since that’s their experience but lets just say it was bad and synthetic tasting as well, along with my transaction since my review is not malicious...
Read moreThe ice cream isn't as tasty as it was, I wonder if they changed the owner.
We ordered ice cream in cone today, we were asked to wait on the other side. We waited and waited. And we noticed that their staff seemed already finished their tasks. But we haven't got our ice cream yet. So we reminded them to prepare our ice cream. But they said they already made it, and someone else took it. They might just want to explain why they didn't make our ice cream. But what they said sounds like they were blaming us. First, they have to remember each customer's order, there's only one group ahead of us, shouldn't be too difficult. Second, we didn't see any ice cream in cone handed to the other group of customers. Again, even they did hand out ice cream in cone, how would I know it's not their order?
The cooler is messy, sweets are stored in the same cooler as hams. And those stuff in cooler are not well organized, my fridge at home is tidier than that. According to this, I don't trust their staffs have good sense...
