The waiters are doing their best to serve everyone they could, but a restaurant with 15 tables clearly needs more than 2 waiters to take order, serve food, take back dishes, refill hotpot and water and etc. We didn't get very much service from them, and some requests such as refilling hotpot were often forgotten.
Then the food aren't very well prepared. Several items we ordered came unavailable, although they are on the menu (and yes, several, like more than 5). They also didn't get the lamb defrost beforehand, so there were like 40 mins where no client in the store was able to get any lamb slices. Worst of it: they don't tell you if the item is available or not, because "if we didn't serve you, it means it's unavailable". Are we supposed to wait until we lose patience to know that a thing we ORDERED is not on the menu? Come on.
The last of it, we were 4 and 1 of us have a Fondue de Pékin membership card, for which we (at least he) should get the membership price. Note that this card doesn't have any time limit. However, when we are about to pay at the counter, we are informed that the membership is no longer applicable after the reopening. First, what is the point to get a membership card if the restaurant can decide anytime that members are just going to lose their privilege? Even if there is a reason to do so, aren't you supposed to warn members BEFOREHAND, not WHILE PAYING? And no, there isn't any kind of announcement, the membership price is still well written on their menu, tricking people to pay for a privilege that they might cancel anytime.
I still tipped the waiters because of their effort to make everything right, but for the owner of the restaurant, I am very...
Read moreThe broths are really tasty and the staff were friendly. The food also came out pretty quickly so we were happy with those.
What really bummed us out was that if you sit by the windows, prepare to be invaded by giant spiders! No they're not just on the outside, look up and you'll see countless webs even on the pendant lights above you. Two giant spiders descended on us during our meal and I literally sped through my meal with one buttcheek hanging off the seat - ready to spring out if another one landed.
The seats were also pretty uncomfortable. (not just because I had one buttcheek on it).
The sauce station was a bit sad but I wouldnt say it would keep me from returning.
Lastly, I wish they zero'd out what they were out of stock of. We kept ordering the same things and they just never arrived. I finally asked and they told me - if it doesn't come, they're out.
Overall, the service was good, food was quick, broths were tasty but the spider problem is a huge no-no. Would love to come back if they fix this issue. I can deal with uncomfortable seats but giant spiders descending on you indoors while you eat is just a no - granted I am not fond of insects...
Read moreA superb hotpot place with multiple types of broth offerings and a generous list of quality hotpot ingredients topped with a superb sauce cart to build our own sauces.
It's a very fun and delicious experience overall. However, they often seem to run out of slotted spoons to accomodate those who enjoy cooking their food with such tools.
The people working there are also effective on service, but initially only seem to be helpful when asked upon rather than helping us figure out the ordering system from the start (for newcomers) and teaching us how the rest of the things work...
The ordering system consists of scanning a QR code with our phones to access a table specific menu then ordering from a single phone to make orders easier. It has a learning curve of varying difficulty. This could be solved by just assigning us an ipad in a shockproof/waterproof case.
Anyhow once you figure out the ordering system, the rest of the evening is quite fun and most of all...
