I saw an amazing marketing campaign on tiktok for this place, unfortunately was very disappointed as the reality was far from what is shown on tiktok. Iftar buffet without fruit chat, dahi baray, Rooh Afza and dates,. Dates were delivered as an after thought when we were almost done eating that to in the original packing shown in pictures, because it was to much work to actually take them out from the box and serve in a platter. Spring rolls filling was the left over veggie tarkari with carrot chopped in cubes and peas, airfried so they were not even golden brown but whitish looking. Tandoori chicken was sogy and no bbq char on it. Beef Dumplings cold ,rubbery and chewy, spicy chicken another disappointment. The salad bar had 2 huge dishes of the lettuce salad and that to the lettuce and Cucumber were brown,so it wasn't fresh.Raita was stale as the yougurt tasted as if it was rotten. Nan arrived half way through the dinner when someone asked for it the 3rd time .Didnt try any curries cuz the look of it wasn't appealing. was waiting for shahi paneer which didnt land until again half way through the iftari. The dessert bar was classic, they had the small pre-made brownies that you buy from any grocery store so not freshly made. Most of the serving dishes were aluminum dishes that you buy from the dollar store, For drinks they had this red kinda juice which wasn't roohafza tasted like sparkling colored water which they said was lemonade but it wasn't.The name of the dishes were missing for almost half of them.and the ones that had names were actually hand written on a paper from a pen sticked to the counter from a scotch tape. The tables didn't have a table cover and cloth napkins as buffets usually have. Guests who actually reseved in advance thier names were broadcasted on the reseved table on a posit The seating arrangement was a complete disaster whoever was coming in they took them and just added tables and chairs with no sequence leaving no space to walk through or get to the food , go the washroom or even walk out of the restaurant. It seemed like a free lungar was being served and you sit where you find a spot . Most staff weren't in uniforms so you didn't know whether the person looking at you weirdly actually wants to pickup the dirty dishes from your table or is just a guest waiting for you to empty your spot so they can sit. If this would be a 20 dollar buffet place maybe my expectations would have been low. But at 30 dollars pp same as tandoor grill ,olympia and dera where they actually cook and serve fresh food, this was a complete put off. Never going there again. You should go and visit your competition and learn how to present ,serve and cook food properly and then only your price will...
Read moreI have been eating Indian food for decades – both here and in India – so I can be a bit critical of generic-type Indian food. Let me begin by saying that that is NOT on offer at Jabeen’s Cuisine.
[If this review is tldr for you, here’s the short version: good prices, delicious food, courteous service (even on the phone!) and something different from usual Indian restaurant fare. Highly recommended!]
I ordered from there this past weekend, as it was our anniversary. It was the first time I tried the place, so I ordered a large variety of items. The first thing I noticed was that they had written a cute, personalized little welcome message on the paper bags. The aroma was mouth-watering, so we dug right in.
I’ll start with the appetizers. I ordered the meat samosas, Chicken 65 and the fish pakoras. The meat samosas were crisp flavourful packets of well-spiced meat with a lovely thin pastry. The delectable morsels of the Chicken 65 was also a big hit with just the right amount of zing. I had never had fish pakoras before, but I certainly will again! They are firm chunks of fish, spiced, battered and deep fried. Each one was a joy to bite into.
For mains, we had the chicken tikka masala, lamb korma, beef biriyani, the assorted tandoori platter and butter chicken (which they threw in for free!). The chicken tikka masala was somewhat different from others I have eaten, but delicious. The lamb korma was also a bit different – with a darker luscious sauce -- but we practically fought over the remaining sauce after we had devoured the scrumptious, tender pieces of lamb. The beef biryani was very flavourful and perfectly cooked.
On to the tandoori platter. It’s a nice variety of flavours. The tasty chicken and beef kababs reminded me of shammi kababs in texture. The fish, shrimp and lamb chops disappeared in record time. As for the butter chicken, well that’s another one we fought over to dunk our naans into the rich sauce!
Our vegetable accompaniments consisted of salad, mixed veggies, dal and channa masala, all four offering a nice contrast, with the mixed veggies perfectly cooked to that tender-crisp level.
We ordered both regular (tandoor) and garlic naan. Along with the basmati rice, they were perfect for soaking up all the delicious gravies and sauces.
I have to admit that we ate the desserts – mango cake, pistachio cake and gulab jamuns – another day. We were just too full. But not too full to end with the paan – I haven’t had paan since I last visited India!
Bottom line: DON’T MISS OUT ON...
Read moreI don't write reviews often, but when I do I make sure it's only for what I consider the best for me and for the people around me (or to make an elaborate joke, which this is not.) That way, if someone wants to experience new but don't know if they should commit to it, I hope they can rest assured when they read these reviews.
Jabeen's is perhaps the best indian restaurant I've been to, and I've went to quite a few. At the time of writing this review, it's definitely a contender for the best around the Montreal area, and for good reasons.
The food is fresh and piping hot. The staff is friendly. The portions are more than generous for the amount of money you pay, but you will figure all of this out for yourself when you go there.
It's prepared with love for the flavors. The beef biryani dish is excellent. The butter chicken is on point. The rice is perfectly cooked. The spinach potatoes literally melt in your mouth.
How this place is not well-known in the south shore area truly is beyond me. It's fairly priced, it's delicious and it's fast. Usually, you can only have two of the three : fairly-priced and delicious takes time, fairly-priced and fast is lacking in flavor and delicious and fast is expensive. This is neither of these three options, and actually clocks in at a fourth one.
I only hope this place stays open for a long time, and gets recognized more by the people living around.
TL;DR : Amazing restaurant with cheap, delicious food with quick preparation....
