*Please AVOID this restaurant if you can, probably the worst service I've had in a while.
My sister suggested this restaurant for my mother's bday, and from hearing the name already my wife and I grimaced, but we decided to give it a chance anyways. Now this part I will write in list form so everyone can read it quickly to know what happened, so they may avoid the experience we've had.
My wife, my two kids and I arrived late (6:10pm), and my whole family was there already there seated at the table.
First of all, no one greeted us on the way in. Every staff we walked passed just ignored us (not even look at us).
FYI: We were the biggest table at the restaurant they were not busy. My family (6 people) had already been sitting for the 15 mins, and I sat down and realized no one is coming to see us. I asked who's the waiter, they said they don't know, no one came to greet them even.
Every waiter that passed by I tried to make eye contact and get their attention but they all looked super serious and pissed off (great atmosphere for a bday dinner). They didn't do any efforts to even acknowledge us, like we're low class people or something. I don't know if this has to do with race, but we were the only Asians there.
Finally I asked the busboy, who's our waiter and he shrugs and says I think it's that woman over there. Even their staff isn't sure who our waiter is, so imagine the organization of this place. I explained to the busboy that no one came to even see us, it's been 15 mins. He says affirmingly, "Alright, we know sir." trying to put me in my place, and then he says we're were waiting for everyone to arrive to begin, but 50% of the table has already arrived and no one came to ask them if they wanted anything to drink while they wait or even say a hello? So we just felt like we're being ignored. I have a 2 year old and he was sitting in a regular chair, and I was trying to get someone to bring him a high chair and no one came.
In the end, my mom was like why is everyone so rude here, did we do something wrong? I said "no mom", and reassured her. I didn't wanted to be belittled like that, so I said mom, let's go to Baton Rouge just next door, she says but it's expensive, I said nah it's about the same price as this scrappy place, I rather pay a little more and be respected than give my money to these people who treat us like sheet.
I told everyone to get up to leave and lord behold- the waiter shows up with his sheet of paper, with a look of surprise on his face, as if he doesn't know why we're getting up to leave. I told him straight to his face, "no thanks, we're going to Baton Rouge". He was completely speechless, nothing to say. As we walked out the manager was yelling something to back of the restaurant like he was disappointed, but too late. He did not ask why we're leaving, he didn't try to make us stay (I wouldn't even if they paid me). As I passed, I told him "no one came to see us, thank you for the amazing service!" and walked out.
They will reply to this and say they generally wait for everyone to arrive to start asking. But I will counter with: if you see there's more than 50% of the table has arrived, you should greet them and ask if they want something to drink while they wait, not even a single word was spoken to us. Whatever you reply, won't change the experience we had, thank you for letting us know to not to go there anymore.
TLDR: Don't go to Vieux Duluth, probably a money laundering business as they don't really care for the customer experience or their customers. Go to the Baton Rouge instead that's just next door, they will actually treat you like customers and their...
Read moreWe ordered pickup from AVD Greenfield Park. Our bill was close to $100. Being Easter Sunday, we ordered early on purpose to avoid the crowds. There were no customers in the restaurant when I picked up. Returned back home and saw that order was incorrect. Called immediately to speak with the manager. The response was yes they did make an error. I asked do you check to make sure that everything is in the bag before you send it out. He answered yes they always do, but they must have been busy. Again, I was the only customer picking up at 5pm. Yes, everyone can make an error. The problem I have is that there was nothing offered to fix the error or for upsetting our already pricey meal. Sorry AVD Greenfield Park, you got it wrong MAJORLY. Your « manager » needs to learn the basics in customer service or be terminated. With your prices, it is not enough to use the excuse, sorry our error. And is it really worth loosing a regular customer over it and getting a scathing review? Big mistake... Huge. You want customers to support small businesses during the pandemic, but yet your are so quick to leave your good customers high and dry when you fall short.
In response to the owner's response: "NOTHING" was offered by your "manager" for the error that was made by your restaurant other than getting my order right on my next visit. My order was made before 5pm and there was nobody in your restaurant. There is no justification for not double checking the order bag before it went out. Make as many excuses as you want, but readers will clearly see that customer service is absent at your establishment. Congratulations, you lost a regular customer. There will be NO next visit. By the way, your chicken brochettes are really dry and way overpriced....
Read moreWe when to this Vieux Duluth restaurant in Greenfield Park this week. We arrived there a 8:15 pm. We wanted to eat and relax. We were greed at the door by a waiter. He told us the restaurant close at 9 pm. Ok, I said. If we order our food, and arrive at the table 15 min. later, it will give us less the 30 min. to eat. The waiter said you have to leave, we're close at 9. I said to him, yes you close at 9, you don't allow customers in after that. Then he said yes, and we close at 9, you have to leave. I told him even if we're not finished eating, do we have to leave? He said yes. I told him this first time I hear a restaurant where the customers have not finish their meal, but they have leave because they are close. I have never heard of that, this is the first time in my life I experience this situation. I got angry, I told him, even if the customer is not finished their meal and they have leave because you're closed? He didn't reply me. I ask him several times, he didn't answer me either Normally, in the restaurant business, if the customer is not finish eating their meal, although the restaurant is closed, they will wait until the customer finish eating before they close completely. They don't kick the customers out because they are close! It's bad attitude and unaccommodating. Bad customers relation. Very disappointed. They won't see me returning there...
