First I would like to say that I picked this place because my parents had a previous great experience! But when I went for my birthday with a group of 10 people (my family) , I ended up being very disappointed! Service was very slow and out of order.. waiters were no we’re to be found.. which surprised me because we were a big group.. took forever to get our beverages.. and to take our order.. and don’t even get me started on the food service.. no one was able to eat at the same time as anyone.. and what I mean by that is that my father in law had the time to eat his food and I still didn’t receive mine.. mind you we arrived for our reserved time at 6pm and by the time our waitress came to order it was almost 7pm and by the time my food arrived it was almost 8pm.. I waited 2 hours for a simple steak.. my waitress told me it shouldn’t be long, but then another one about 15mins later came to see me and she told me oh we totally forgot about you.. which is sad especially that it was my birthday.. once I finally got my steak it was completely raw!!! I also oder fries for my 96 year old grandfather and they brought mashed potatoes instead. And when I mentioned it to the waiter he said no problem I’ll be back in a minute with the fries and never came back.. honestly I’m really disappointed with my experience, my family did not like their experience neither did I!!! And my Dad paid for everyone.. so you can imagine basically paying the price for a very nice plane ticket to go down south but instead you pay for very horrible service is not fun.. I really felt I needed to make an effort because my expectations were exceeded and I totally believe the service ( and food ) need to be recognized. Me and my boyfriend often go eat in restos all around Montreal and one time we decided to go eat at Baton Rouge In GPK. Since then we have gone back and will continue to go back. The server , young gentleman that works on Monday and Tuesdays only , is AMAZING!!!! He is so attentive, ,friendly , efficient, and we could go on and on and on about how great he is. We never felt rushed and always felt taken care of . We had the porterhouse a few times to share and the t-bone once , and everytime it was cooked to perfection. The side dishes ( baked potato , seasonal vegetables and we always add added mushrooms ) were all amazing . My boyfriend, who is a big sea food eater , always takes the lobster tail , and claims it’s one of the best he’s had . The food was delicious and the service we had is really hard to beat . We would have never thought we would have had such a great meal/ service at Baton Rouge in GPK. We would recommend it to anyone who’s looking for a tasty meal ( take the porterhouse or tbone to share ) , AMAZING service , with an intimate environment for a VERY reasonable price to Try it out!! Read moreOrdered calamari and Caesar salad, as well as a T-bone cooked medium rare, from their specialty menu. Also ordered an extra lobster tail and coleslaw on the side. My wife ordered filet mignon, also medium rare, with a loaded smashed baked potato.
The calamari was great, although the portion size was small. The Caesar salad was too vinegary, but not terrible. When my plate arrived, everything looked great. However, upon closer inspection, I noticed that the lobster tail, which was nicely placed on top of the thick-cut T-bone, was actually just an empty shell!
My wife and I were shocked. I informed the waitress and handed it to her to bring back to the kitchen. I asked her to not bring another one. I also requested that it be taken off the bill, and she agreed.
Then I began cutting into the steak. The coleslaw tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge for a while and was very bland. My wife's meal came without the side and had to wait for it, and when it did come, the smashed potato was swimming in grease, almost like it was liquidy. I'm not sure if they added too much butter to it, but there was definitely too much oil and sour cream on top. By the time my meal came back, my wife had finished eating. Nest time il just oder a burger or somthing overly simple. This experience has been the last attempt to order steak in a restaurant and I don't know if I just have bad luck and high standards or what but this was my last time paying $70+ for a steak that always has some...
