When it comes to flavors of gelato, itās quite subjective to our preferences when judging whether itās good or not. Personally the cheesecake gelato I ordered for my daughter - we were not fans of it. However, I know there are very good options here. Unfortunately, the service was quite shocking to me. I purchased a coffee plus a kidās sized ice cream for my child waiting outside with her dad. I saw the amount on the register, and just out of mere curiosity I asked the teenager at the cash whether he charged me for the plastic cup that they had on display for kids. He didnāt even have a chance to answer when an older man turned to me, in front of the full store of patrons and said āwhat, too expensive?!ā āWhat do you do for work?ā I said, āno, no I was just curious which cup size I was charged for as I am grabbing ice cream for my childā. I was absolutely baffled since half the line was looking at our interaction. I am not sure what this man expected my answer to be. It was clearly implied that I was either too poor or budgeting my order. Perhaps I should have told you that I work for an international top four corporation and that my family makes more than your gelato business could even hope to come close to in a fiscal year? Iāve been taught to be more humble and not base my interactions on what we do and where I work or which estate we live on. Customer service is imperative - put some...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreGelato is Okay. But the service tastes awful and ruins the gelato. My 3 friends and I went after a 2 year reunion lunch. The customer in front of had 6 tasting spoons in her hand. I watched while she was repeatedly served tastes. I, having been recently diagnosed with dairy allergy asked to try the raspberry gelato since I'm new to non-dairy flavours... My friends selected theirs and I still wasn't decided so I asked to try the peach and lemon. I was glared at and told "no, you only get 2 tastes" I asked to speak to the owner, was told no. I asked for her name and was told "no." Then she finally got someone from the back who told me, I can only make ice cream related complaints. Anyhow, I bought the gelato for all of us and left. Not sure if her rudeness was age related or racist? I never know what makes people treat some better than others. Rules should apply evenly to all customers or it just looks awful. The lady ahead of us was an elderly Caucasian woman. I did point out that they served the lady in front of us differently. That was met with a glare. Gelato is okay. But the service was so awful, i'll never go back. I'll be telling everyone I know about my awful...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had just gotten back from a small town in Italy a few weeks prior, where I had been eating gelato every day for a couple of weeks. So when my friend suggested we get gelato at a nearby parlour I had responded with a pretentious chuckle.
I approached the place expecting to walk into a "gelato" shop that sells the odd American creation that doesn't even attempt to imitate its Italian counterpart.
To my suprise I was met with rectangular tubs arranged like they were in Italy. And the flavors? No American ones like "cookies and cream," "superman," or "chocolate coconut catastrophe," etc. They had "Stracciatella", "Bacio", "Pistachio", and host of other flavors you'd normally only typically find in southern Europe.
The server carefully prepared the cup and presented it beautifully, accompanied with the iconic small gelato spoon. My suprise was further exacerbated when I tried it and immediately reminded me of the gelato I was eating a few weeks prior.
The word "authentic" gets thrown around a lot, but Crema Di Gelato is yet to be the only authentic gelato place I've seen here in Canada. Its the real deal and for anyone who wishes to see what real gelato is, you...
