The Coop is an above average restaurant in Burlington, the service was above average and the food was above average. Overall I won't give it 5-stars simply because this place wasn't perfect, it was good and I would recommend it to friends but there are definitely better places to eat in the general vicinity. I've worked in restaurants and kitchens for a vast majority of my life so I feel like I am qualified to judge them. Paige is a very good waitress, blurring the lines between legitimate interest and the common waitress hustle. I'd come back just to get her service again, she seemed to have the attitude they wanted to present at The Coop which is great for any business to find in an employee. Onto the food, I had the classic fried chicken sandwich, if memory serves me correctly this was $11, for the price I received something that tasted good, the pickles really tied it together which was unexpected. The main issue I had is that the chicken I ate was literally just breading in the whole middle of the sandwich and it seemed like a very, very small portion for the price I was paying which is unfortunate. The chicken looks big and it's big around the edges but a majority of it is just the breading. I'll likely end up trying it again to see if it was just a one off or if they are legitimately cheap with one of the cheapest proteins on the market. The hamburger was $12, it was definitely worth the $12, you could taste beef, it didn't taste processed and it was served in a matter of about 10 minutes from the time I ordered. The cheese on it is more of a sauce, similar to that of which you would find on Nachos with what I assume was Jalapenos mixed into it. It tasted good and it actually impressed me more than the chicken they are named after. The burger was also great because of the bun, it tasted like it had been buttered well and toasted on the grill which is a huge plus in my books. The fries were really salty, I talked to Paige about it and she said "the owner is always on them about under seasoning" but to me it seems like what is happening is that they are reusing the same bowl multiple times for fries which is standard practice but after a while the salt mixes with the oil and creates something that cannot dissolve so the top layer of the fries I received was like putting a salt lick in my mouth. The bottom layer was better, Paige was paying enough attention to notice that I drank a whole glass of water even though I said I wasn't thirsty, I wasn't until I had the fries. Overall this was an above average experience, I would recommend it to friends that want a quick chicken sandwich or hamburger. There are a few tweaks that could push them over into exception status such as offering combos (Fries + Sandwich + Drink), Better portion sizes on the chicken, less salt on the fries.

I want to start this review by stating, I am reserving my right to change it based on Brunch. I do plan to return and try it out. That being said, this is a pricy joint, but you're definitely getting what you paid for. Ordered the chicken sandwich, and chicken and waffles. Got a side order of onion pedals, waffle fries and deviled eggs as an appetizer. The deviled eggs were interesting, but I think maybe they'd be better with a bit or chili spice or something. They were deep fried which was super interesting, but didn't add a ton to the flavour experience overall. The Onion pedals were good, but the breading didn't stick super well. The waffle fries were actually pretty amazing, simple salted and tasted double fried. Very crispy, I was extremely impressed. Now the chicken sandwich was out of this world, maybe could use extra pickles but their chicken is where it's at. In the great chicken sandwich wars, this one didn't need to fight because it had already won. Not overly crispy, but very very well seasoned. Oddly enough the star of the show was the chicken and waffles, and I don't think because it was necessarily the best item overall, was just the most surprising. And the waffle bit was the surprising part! I've never in my entire life ever had a waffle that was as good at the one I had here, chicken was spot on very well seasoned perfectly cooked. But that waffle came out of left field, so good that even being full I still ate it. The staff was friendly and prompt, our waitress made a mean Ceasar. Overall I would definitely recommend the experience, all the tunes were of my 90s era growing up. The atmosphere felt like being in the basement of your best friend's house, you know that friend that always had the coolest stuff. Yeah that friend, a great place to visit.

The Coop aka The Coop Wicked Chicken aka the Chicken Coop has opened a new location in Burlington. It's first location was in Hamilton and has been going gangbusters for about the past year. Innovative dining has given up on high Toronto rents and moved to Hamilton. Burlington is geographically fortunate to start getting some of the battle tested expansions. The Coop is all things chicken, both fried and grilled. You'll probably want to go straight for the friend chicken patty on a bun. But don't order the fries. Pay the extra 50 cents and the the onion petals (a non ring fried onion ring). You get a huge basket and it might be enough as a side for two. This place also offers full tale service. None of that semi confusing, order at the counter and then get your food delivered to your table. We went on the opening weekend, which can sometimes be a disaster service wise, but the service was smooth and friendly. The place has a cool late 80s, early 90s theme to it. The only downside is plays on "cock" are a bit overused. You know, shocking stuff for us blue hairs in Burlington. Oh, the place has a great weekend brunch that runs until 2 pm. So you're never feeling rushed for brunch if you enjoy a weekend sleep in. There is also a respectable selection of local craft beers on tap and in bottles.

We went here with a baby, we were greeted at the door by two ladies asked us if we needed high chairs. We said no since we thought of going for a quick bite. They gave us a two seating by the corner, it was convenient for us! Server got to us quickly, explained the menu. We ordered the Chicken waffles, Nashville chicken burger and cotton candy milk shake. All were bomb! So yummy! The portions on the chicken waffles could be slightly bigger for their price range but I think the flavour of their food makes up for it. The cotton candy milk shake didn't look like cotton candy the colour of the drink was light tint of green & it was decorated with gummy bears which I found weird-- it could've been like a piece of cotton candy, so I know what I'm drinking you know? Nonetheless the shake was really tasty, tasted like cotton candy and milky! We left for our quick bite to walk around lakeshore and the pier. We found a flyer for Hamilton and we saw that the Coop offers 2 for $10 Dirty bird tacos, which sounded so good. We decided to go back, ask the 2 ladies that seated us if they knew about the flyer, they didn't. Then we went ahead to go to the take out cash, where a lady didn't know what we were talking about. Which we figured when she pointed it out that it was for the Hamilton location (DUH--Hamilton flyer) but before that she said we would've gotten 2 small tacos for $10 and then she told us that it's one for $10. So that's not worth it for one taco!? So my family drove all the way to Hamilton, took us an extra 15 min drive. We called ahead to check if the offer is valid in the flyer, then of course we were told that one order is $10 and it comes with 2 tacos! That's like their regular price and portion, it's not like a sale or anything. My question is why didn't the Burlington location tell us that it came with 2 tacos for $10? It was a misunderstanding perhaps but they should know their menu better & the fact that we didn't really have to drive all the way to the Hamilton location, because it comes with 2 tacos anyway for $10!!! I felt like she thought we were trying to get 2 orders for $10...we're not that cheap! But anyway that dirty bird tacos were also really delicious! So it was worth the drive, but knowing we could've stayed at the Burlington location would've...

I was in town visiting friends and they wanted to show me around Downtown. We stopped into the Coop around 8pm on a Sunday and it was not busy at all. We sat at a table in the bar and nobody approached us but servers walked by several times. After waiting and not being acknowledged I decided to stand at the bar to ask for menus and to be served. After waiting a few more minutes just to get menus a server finally approached us and we ordered drinks but she didn't know anything about the drink menu. After about 10 minutes we got our drinks, 2 beers and 1 mixed drink and a water. And like I stated before, not busy at all. Once she finally came back to our table we ordered some food to share. One thing we ordered was the nachos with pulled chicken but no tomatoes. She looked confused after I ordered but jotted it down on her notepad. Our food only took about 15 minutes which was nice, but it was wrong and we were missing an order of poutine and the nachos were wrong. They had plain chicken not spiced shredded, and all it had on it was lettuce and cheese. My girlfriend who was with us knew someone there and she mentioned it to him and he was kind enough to get it fixed for us. Our server had put the order in as “no spice” instead of “no tomatoes” which was way off. Shortly after we finished eating we all just wanted to leave so we asked for our bills. She had a hard time separating the bills and had to do it 3 times and come back and ask every time. Just to get them separated and pay it took 30 minutes. It shouldn’t have been that difficult, I payed for just the nachos and the rest of the table was all on one bill. She kept coming back with things swapped around but finally another girl at the bar apologized and she got it taken care of. The manager took the nachos off the bill because they were wrong and our server didn’t check on us when we got the food. I hate having to write a bad review but the service we received was terrible considering there was only 4-5 other tables in the whole place. Our server seemed disconnected and didn’t seem to care whether or not we were having a...
