I went here with my boys yesterday for the first time as we were craving a cold treat but wanted a healhtier alternative to ice cream, which we have had an abundance of lately. We chose this place as it's close to the lake, where we like to walk, and I've seen lineups there before. This is one instance where I'm glad I did not read the reviews before trying it. I don't understand all the negativity. When we arrived in the mid-afternoon, we were the only ones there. The woman that worked there (no idea if she is owner-it's possible) was friendly, efficient and answered our questions about the gelato. She told us which ones were dairy free. I asked if the chocolate one was and she said yes. When I asked if it had sugar she said yes. I ordered it and it was one of the best chocolate frozen treats I have ever tasted. I've probalby had thousands of different brands and varieties over the years and that's no exaggeration. My one son had a mix of the watermelon and pink lemonade (both dairy free) and he too said it was one of the best frozen treats he had ever tasted. My other son had the peach gelato, which did have dairy if memory serves. He said it was good. It was a tad pricey for the 3, as we had them all in waffle cones. But it was well worth it and you get what you pay for; take into consideration the quality ingredients they must use, the time and craftsmanship it must take to make such amazing treats (the presenation was also mouth-watering) and the location, which is right on the lakeshore of scenic downtown Burlington. I would highly recommend this location for quatlity gelato and if we have to wait in line the next time we go, that's just fine with us. Patience...
Read moreWe went to this place a week ago! And was served by an old and nice lady! And we loved their gelato! My family and i were talking about it all the week and waited so bad to go there again! Today! ( Sunday Sep/29 ). When it was our turn to order! Was served by an old guy! ( very rude and disrespectful ) he put a very small portion not like the last time!!! And i asked for a cup for my daughter ( which he charged me a dollar for it ) he gave it to me in a very rude way! And was too small that my daughter couldn't even put the gelato cone in it! I couldn’t ask him for a bigger one as he was so mad and rude? And kept saying that’s it!?? And we wanted to order more! Like he is doing us a favor! And giving us the gelato for free! When it comes to the payment i asked him with a smile on my face and was very polite to him! How much do i owe you? He gave me an attitude and yells i’m not a computer here?? You need to wait! I said no rush take your time and i’m happy to wait. Then He asked me are you paying with card?? Or cash? I said a card! He charged extra fees as they don’t accept Credit card,, and pointed at the sign we don’t take Credit card ??? Which i don’t have a debit! He did not mention there is an extra fees if i pay with CC. Which i found out all the extra fees when i got the receipt at the end. He made me feel so bad i wish if i gave him the gelato back and left the store! on our first visit we decided to go there every week! Now!! I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO YOUR STORE EVEN IF YOU GIVE THE...
Read moreI came in to I love gelato yesterday with my 10 year old daughter, her best friend and my 12 year old niece. My niece had never had gelato and I was looking forward to introduce her to this store. The girls wanted to see the flavours and stood briefly behind some people that were ordering just for a moment. They were not bothering anyone. There were two ladies serving, a younger woman and an older lady. The older lady proceeded to snap at the children and shouted at them to get back in the line. She said that there are some people that were there longer and were also looking. She said this in a harsh elevated tone making the kids feel that they were cutting in line. The whole experience was unpleasant and frankly uncalled for. The children were upset and barely enjoyed the gelato. I feel that I should have just left with the kids and taken them to one of the other gelato shops instead. I am not an overly sensitive person so I didn’t say anything at the time but the way she spoke to the kids and shamed them for simply peeking at some flavours stayed with me. I have worked customer service in the past and this is not how you treat people. This lady turned what should have been a fun little outing to get ice cream into a negative experience. Sadly I love the gelato here but will not be returning to the store due to the rude service...
