I cannot say enough good things about this place. I called a couple of weeks prior to our visit and spoke to Carolyn. I arranged with her being able to make a reservation (even though they don't take them) because it was my mothers 75th birthday. She was more then happy to accommodate.
The day of (March 11) I called Carolyn to let her know our approximate arrival time, she told me not to worry. When we got there I introduced myself and my mom and we got settled. We got our drinks no issue. When I went to check the food they had at the counter I noticed a white chocolate and raspberry cookie (confirmed by Carolyn) and all I did was look at the cookie, look at Carolyn and look at my mom and she immediately grabbed one and put it aside for her.
Food was amazing, staff were phenomenal (not just Carolyn all of them) my mom had such a good time and they brought over the cookie without fanfare as I had informed them my mom hated the whole song and fuss so that was really appreciated as well.
For people who complain about tipping and blah blah blah. This is the kind of service you tip for. Carolyn did not have to reserve a spot for us or treat my mom like the queen she is, but she and her staff did so anyways and I cannot say thank you enough to them for making my mom's day so special.
The picture tells the story, my mom NEVER smiles in photos but she was so happy she did...
Read morePretty impressed with the food and have nothing bad to say about the customer service. They clearly take some pride in this.
HOWEVER, the prices were offensive and the serving sizes were downright paltry. My boyfriends wife ordered the arugula and fennel salad with a side of tempeh. As tasty as it looked, it was merely just a pile of greens with four little pieces of tempeh...
Now let's make one thing clear: I am dainty. but despite how dainty I am, I would have a hard time considering this an appetizer, let alone a meal. Thankfully I ordered the linguine and the serving size was much bigger. So big however, that a dainty guy like me had to take half of it to go in a daddy basket and bring it to work the next day for lunch, but I digress.
Ladies and gentlemen, back to the arugula... If I were a more litigious man, I would consider a lawsuit for the reconstructive surgery I had to undergo after my jaw hit the floor when the bill came... TWENTY SEVEL DOLLARS FOR THE SALAD, BEFORE TIP. If my boyfriend wasn't the heir to a marble and granite conglomerate we would have been in real trouble here...
All in all, we had a fine experience, but are unlikely to return in...
Read moreThis place makes a great first impression. I look forward to a second visit soon!
I went on a Sunday afternoon for a nice hot mug of Americano as well as something savoury and something sweet to eat.
I had the ham and cheese danish and it was very good - flaky pastry and really good ham and melty cheese make it hard to go wrong. Their scones are also good, and while we had it later at home, their pain au chocolate are expertly made.
Coffee was very good, tasting just like it was made at home with my favourite beans and in my espresso maker.
Service was very enthusiastic and maybe a bit over the top but I'll take that over indifferent any day of the week. They were a bit slow to clear tables and the reheated food came to the table less than hot, but I didn't mind, the place was a pleasant place to spend time.
The room was beautifully designed and the furniture was very comfortable and high end. I saw people working so I assume there was wifi, though I didn't check.
They seem to offer alcohol as well, though we didn't have any.
I can see this being a great spot in the summer if they place tables and chairs outside, facing the lake!
Looking forward to...
