NOT IN OLD ORCHARD MALL, moved across of Metrotown.
me and my husband wanted to check out this place since it has a vietnamese restaurant with a high rating score. we ordered vegetarian tofu soup (A2) and chicken + spring roll with rice (17).
my husband said that they used the pineapple to make the soup is a very good idea. although my husband is really ok with spicy (even indian) he stated that the soup is very spicy and hot. they also included either rice or vermicelli which is very confusing for a soup but other people might like rice i guess. my meal in terms of the chicken is a bit better than the vietnamese restaurant in metrorown. BUT the spring roll in food court metrotown is better..weirdly enough! so over all the chicken was grilled as stated in the menu and is better than other places.
they have a good ambiance and they have tv and did the canucks. the place is actually silent so people can mostly hear each other's conversations but most of the time you can hear the commentators in the tv and you can still have a conversation at your table.
staff is very very very good and attentive even if they gave the wrong order to our table. the guy looks very friendly and knows his regulars even after they moved. so this means that customers follow them cz they are good. im willing to bring other people here to try it too. a bit of a small place but a good solid to hold 4 people in 1 table or put some together. lots of people do take out.
-2 stars bec the place had a fruit fly. SO...i will change my rating IF i go back to try another round of dine in and if there is no more...
Read moreI don't want to sound rude and this is my first time doing this. The food was solid and very inexpensive. That being said, I had been taking my coffee breaks several times over the last week or two. This "Cafe's" coffee is somewhat expensive (over 7 dollars after taxes) but I didn't mind and even tipped a couple of times. Today however, in a very insulting and loud tone and with a dozen of people in attendance...the manager had come over to where I had been seated and stated to me "For future reference, we don't just serve coffee without a meal". I was very embarrassed. As an establishment, they have the right to set their own rules and I respect that, however, the message could have been conveyed more... respectfully as well discreetly, perhaps? Also, this is a cafe and in my experience, Cafe's are known to serve just coffee, are they not? Again. Up to the owners. They just should have been more respectful as I had recommended this place to several of my friends. I won't be returning for my breaks any longer as I only have half hour. I may return some other days when I am not working, however, I don't feel too comfortable given what...
Read moreA very modern looking vietnamese restaurant. The place is small with very tiny tables. The menu doesnt have any vietnamese on it so some thing are confusing. They have a seafood patty noodle soup with tomato. The picture looks like bun rieu but not sure. It would have been better to have both english and vietnamese.
We ordered the pho dac biet and the grilled pork with spring roll vermicelli. The pho broth was well made. There was a stronger taste of one of the ingredients but I cant pinpoint which one. The bowl was on the smaller size compared to other restaurants. Bean sprouts are already in the pho and not served on the size. They also give a pinky sized lime. It would have been nice to have some herbs too. The vermicelli was also well made. The spring roll was made with rice paper which I like. The pork pieces were really tender. The bowl size was also small.
Overall, their dishes are made better than some mom and pop viet noodle shops, which reflects in the price. It would maybe be compared to the viet noodle guy...
