There's a number of reasons why I'm giving this a 1 star. -quality of food and price. I don't know if the owners have changed or there's a new chef, but I went to eat very recently on March 6-7. It was a Dine-in. The new menu food was a shadow of the past. The old menu was 100x better and I don't know why the menu was changed but it was the biggest mistake and here's why. The food tasted like restaurant food refrigerated. The grilled patties used to be juicy packed with flavor. Now it just has the consistency of wet paper and bland taste which was one of the best orders of the place now reduced to dirt. Just by looking at glance you can tell it changed. The Tonkotsu was pretty good served with a side of rice and a small salad, but it wasn't filling. Tonkotsu usually has a lower price in the better restaurant that serves it in better quality. It may sound cheap, but when there's so many Japanese restaurant all over Burnaby and Vancouver that serve Tonkotsu. They serve it better and cheaper. The Takoyaki part of the New menu was good but way too Overpriced. You can go to any decent sushi restaurant and have Takoyaki the same but at half the price. One squid ball would not be worth more than half a dollar. 5 pieces - 7 dollars and not specific on the new menu. Me and my family used to be regulars to the restaurant remembering the taste and how everytime would surprise us with flavors making us come back for it. Now we are extremely disappointed almost not wanting to come back. It's like we just feel sorry for the place. The food now should be costing half of what it is. The quality is that poor now. The side dishes have changed. Every side dish got changed to the degrading quality. No sweet potato, no kimchi. Added cold bland pasta.
-The place. The place lost it's environment. It's life. You don't want any modern trash hop music playing in the place. It doesn't match the current theme of the restaurant. It looks more run down than before. I tried to eat my meal in piece only to listen to music like blueberry faygo. Are you kidding me? The place used to inhibit a sort of home feeling. I get that people order on delivery all the time and sometimes you don't see a change but Dine-in has changed in the worst way and delivery might be worse from point on.
Dear Jong Ga. This restaurant is a 'Korean Traditional' Restaurant. It used be our favorites to go to when we have the time. Now it doesn't seem traditional and it doesn't seem the same as the good reviews from a month ago. We might give it another chance if things overturn...
Read moreWorst dinning experience ever, specifically, worst service/attitude ever. We, a group of two, went to this place today because we are a regular customer. After ordering, waited around 20 minutes, one item was served. We were starving, but my companion do not have anything in front of her for another 10 minutes, so I offered to share my dish with her as we were waiting for her item to come out. We then asked the server to check the order that hasn't came out, shockingly, the server said we did not order the other item. The server's attitude is simply unacceptable, she did not show any sign of apology, she basically blamed this situation to us before we had any chance to say a word. I don't know how it is even possible for her to not understand we wanted two items, in fact, we have both physically using our fingers to point out the item on the menu. The main reason we went to this place is because my companion wanted that one dish, and in the end she just got the most terrible experience. From beginning to end, the server acted like that we were at fault, and made me feel very uncomfortable. I literally have nothing to say, I am simply shocked, I have never expected or thought that one day something like this would happen, especially the fact that I live in the neighbourhood and quite regularly visit this place. Of course now I will never...
Read moreIst time for me, hubby brought me there for dinner. Good place, run by a family. Covid safety: it is seating booth separated by a plexiglass. The menu is on the wall, the menu has photo of each dish with description in English. Menu is quite extensive. Place is small but you still feel safe with the plexiglass. We ordered the seafood pancake, we do not like green onions so they were kind enough to sub for mushrooms. The seafood pancake was good. Almost every table orders the pancake. The pancake is good, crispy on the outside with decent amount of seafood inside. We order the cold spicy noodle with skate, & my fav So Doo Boo ( tofu with egg & your choice of meat), I had mine with beef & had it spicy. The broth was very flavourful, they did not skim on the heat ( usually they do that especially of you are non-Korean). Very nicely done, hubby loved the cold spicy noodle. It comes with 4 side dishes. Do check it out if you haven’t done so. Parking is abit challenging. By...
