PLS DONT GO HERE!!! They literally steal from you!!. Do not go here if you want to be treated with basic respect.

I ordered a bowl and when they weighed it the total was around $25. Which I had no problem with. I did think it was odd that we had to pay before getting our food or any service. I was unsure if I'd be satisfied with the food and didn't know what the service would be like, so when presented with the higher tip options I opted to tip a small custom amount. I thought this was fair and that I could easily tip cash after. I was shocked to learn that my bowl had a minimal amount of soup compared to my friends. To the picture where my friends pointed it out and we asked the server to add more soup. The server was not happy about this. But she did end up getting me more soup. Then I realized that my bowl did not have a specific meat item that I had certainly added. My friends saw me put it in my bowl. I WAS SO SHOCKED. We all confirmed the bowl didn't have the item. I didn't bother calling the server this time and chose to leave a review instead. Other items could have been missing but I didn't care to check after that because it was obvious what had happened. It doesn't end there, a server came to give more tissues to my friends and didn't offer me one. I felt like they really wanted to stick it to me for not tipping them a higher amount. I can't beleive the audacity these people have and I will not be returning here. Save your money and spend it at a restaurant that treats people with respect and doesn't STEAL from their customers. Yes, they stole. Because I had paid for all the items and even tipped. Lets not reward...

My boyfriend and I have been wanting to try this place as we wanted to explore similar spots like Big Way. (Especially after seeing all the positive reviews) However, we were both deeply disappointed by our experience. While the staff were nice, they didn't explain how their pricing works properly especially after knowing we were first timers here, nor did they explain that their drinks (We had the Lemon Red Iced Tea) were just premade and out in the open-with no lids-for who knows how long, so we were a little surprised about that. It tastes watered down and honestly seemed like it was just a diluted Nestea with a lemon slice in it.

Furthermore, we paid about $95 altogether and found that the food was not worth its price tag. We had high hopes for it, but the Classic Spicy Broth ended up being bland and the Beef Bone Broth just tasted like the prepackaged broth that you can get from Happy Lamb but more diluted. What's more is that our meats were overcooked and I could barely even chew my octopus because of how overdone it was and had to unfortunately spit it out. I ended up not finishing my food even though I tried out of principle and not wasting food, because of how poor quality it was cooked.

Otherwise, it was clean and not that busy, but I don't think it'd be worth it to come back if this quality of food continues. It may have had some unique spread of ingredients, but it wouldn't be worth it anyway if it all came out bland in the end. (Even the ice cream at the end but at least...

Went here today and was quite disappointed. First of all, they have a minimum weight/spend, which just feels like poor business practice for a pay by weight establishment. They also have the same min weight for toddlers and children. They did say I could combine ingredients into one bowl to make the weight, but both my kids like different items/broths and are very picky about foods mixing so this was not an option for us. They made an exception for us today, but even so, the meal was quite expensive compared to the other very popular pay by weight hot pot place. I paid almost double the price for the same amount I usually get at the other place and my 3 year old only had noodles and some rice cakes and her pot was still $15. I also was not a fan of the broth. The tomyum tasted like cleaning product and was overall not a good experience. All the kids got the bone broth, but it tasted very artificial. The same flavour of the bone broth instant noodles. They also wiped down the tables beside us while we were eating, but the rags they used left an unpleasant mildew scent in the air which made the meal even more unappetizing. Also, the sauces were so watered down that it was inedible. The peanut sauce literally had the same consistency as water.

One last thing, the meat in our pots were so tough, my daughter’s friend almost choked on a piece because it was so hard to chew and she ended up swallowing a big piece. We will not be returning and I do not recommend this...

Edit 2: Went back again and the mala is spicy now! Also they're doing another promotion right now. Edit: Came back two days later and the service was really good. Got the food within 10-15 minutes. They're now offering a free drink with every bowl while supplies last. Original review: Positives: -Get to pick your own food and pay by weight. Mine came out to only $19 for the pot. -A lot of options at the sauce bar although they didn't have satay sauce -Big and spacious store with comfortable seating -Convenient location for me Negatives: -Service was pretty slow although it was only day 2 of opening so hopefully they will hire more staff. My food took 30 minutes to arrive. -No guidance when we entered so we just grabbed the pot and tongs ourselves since it's similar to Big Way but saw that many people were confused on how it works. -Some of the ingredients weren't stocked up and the spinach wasn't cut at the head so it was all clumped together. -I got the mala medium soup base and it wasn't spicy at all. My partner's tomato soup base tasted a lot better in my opinion. -Has a minimum requirement of 1lb ($19 ish) worth of food although I was slightly under it and the cashier didn't say anything. Overall I would still come back due to the location and food but I hope they will improve their service times.

Hot enough to be Bigger? Passing by and noticed this place opened up not long ago in replacement of a previous Chinese restaurant. Curiosity sparked and decided to give it a try. It is located at the corner of Lougheed Hwy and North Road, same plaza as Insadong and Pho 99. The interior layout and setup is very similar to Big Way Hotpot, but I would say a lot less busy and less options. I went through and chose my meat, carbs and veggies. As for the soups, here were the soup bases I ordered; 1. Beef bone soup (non spicy). It was somewhat bland with a light sweet taste. I personally find the pork bone soup base to be always more flavourful. 2. Sichuan pepper broth. Besides the light spicy taste, the broth tasted a bit weak. Overall, the place was pretty clean with a casual vibe. The service was decently good and the server was quite attentive. As for the food compared to Big Way; less food and drink options here, the broths were weaker and more bland, and I don’t know if it’s me or what but appears to be slightly more expensive? Never got the free ice cream at the end like the cashier said I would get lol. P.S. I believe if the boss stop being so busy acting like a boss and let his employees attend to the customers, it might help score a few more repeat customers.

Chinese DIY Hot pot battling it out in an area dominated by Korean restaurants. Small plaza parking available - watch out though as some of the spots are limited to 30 minutes / pretty transit friendly as location is a short walk from Lougheed. Place was very clean and color scheme was a lot like "Fish with You" (fish pot restaurant at crystal mall ). Service was very quick - got a table on a weekend afternoon instantly. They do have a minimal order weight of 1LB/19.99 / so this might be the reason why some stated this place is expensive, and it could be if you're a small eater seeking the $10-15 pots. In terms of selection - I don't think they have that large of a selection compared to say Big Way - I felt like there was less of everything. The Fried Egg here was a disaster and don't recommend / it was very dry. Broth selection was mid , tried the #1 spicy broth , apparently most popular among customers - the medium level spicy was alright - you can taste the gentle numbing of the peppercorns, however it still lacked intensity , maybe I should got max heat. They were having a happy hour - so the drink was on the house, no option of type of drink. It tasted pretty good. Did not get the ice cream at the end, believe they had basic Vanilla.
