We were a little hungry last night around 8:30PM and decided to stop by Kokoro’s new Brentwood location (there was no wait!). Don’t get ‘Kokoro Tokyo Mazesoba’ mixed up with ‘Kokoro Ramen’ on Victoria Street, they are different.
What is Mazesoba? Literally translated is mixed noodle and is ramen WITHOUT soup.
I have been to their location downtown before, but boy is their new location beautiful. The interior design is so modern and aesthetically pleasing. Service was great, and of course the food never disappoints!
Items we ordered;
NINJA GYOZA The Ninja Gyoza was fried to perfection, crispy and juicy at the same time. The filling was a veggie filling with glass noodles (I believe it was chives), topped with fresh scallions and spicy minced pork. The gyoza’s sat on a drizzle of chilli oil. Delicious!
MENTAIKO CREAM MAZESOBA I love mentaiko cream sauce, it has this amazing umami flavour comprised of fish roe, some fresh greens, raw egg yolk, and chashu pork. The noodles were perfectly cooked. They give you the option of having a bowl of rice to eat with the remaining sauce. However, we opted out (too full!). We are not a fan of chashu (we prefer lean meat), we would love to try it with their minced pork next time.
TANTAN RAMEN This is probably one of the best ramens I’ve had in a while. I loved how peppery it smelled, and the broth was creamy but not heavy. With the broth, I believe they give you a choice of chicken or pork (I can’t remember, but I went with chicken). The Tantan Ramen is served with thin noodles, spicy minced pork, soft broiled egg, scallions, onions, fresh ground pepper and sesame sauce. I also added corn, cause your girl loves her corn.

Read moreI loved the Kokoro location in downtown, so when this Brentwood location opened up I was super excited. As parking in downtown is always a pain, you basically have to sacrifice your first born to find a space and then put a down payment at the meter for an hour’s time, I thought this location being in Madison Centre would have much easier access.
I thought the decor inside was so well done, much more so than the downtown location. It has lots of neons and purple which gives it a retro feel.
They’re most well known for their mixed noodles and I always go for their Zenbu Maze Soba which includes a bit of everything. The noodles were the same in both locations, nice chewy texture, the toppings were also all the same with the ground meat and cubed pork belly. The only thing I had noticed is that the sauce is milder at this location. I was almost tempted to ask for some salt or soy sauce.
What I find most delicious about mixed noodles is all the components mixed together gives you a well balanced flavour with every bite. From the crunchy bamboo shoots, the creamy egg yolk, the garlic chives, fish powder and etc makes it really addictive.
After you’re done with your noodles, don’t forget to get a scoop of the complimentary rice to mix in with everything else. It may not look like much when you first look at the bowl, but it’s actually quite a bit of food.
Service was speedy, not too much interaction with my server but I got...
Read moreFirst of all, I can't tell you how much I liked the interior decoration of the restaurant. I have seen very few places that are so beautiful, spacious and artistic using a single color and its tones 🪭 All the dishes were delicious and the presentation of the plates was dazzling. They have special free appetizers for each day, we went on a Monday so we got chicken karaage. We ordered gyoza as a starter. It was very good, the best gyoza I have ever had! Then my boyfriend and I ordered ramen with chicken karaage. It was great. The chicken broth, the egg, the noodles themselves were all very delicious and the combination was mouthwatering🤤🤤. The regular plate is very filling. Finally, we finished with tiramisu. The portion of tiramisu was big and its taste puts a smile on your face. I also loved the presentation of the spoons, how creative! The spoons in the shape of shovels. We really dug the tiramisu. We also tried their refreshers as drinks, I tried the strawberry one and my boyfriend tried the blue hawaiian lemonade. I liked his and he liked mine a lot. I was really satisfied, everything was extraordinary. I will come again. And the prices are very reasonable. An incredible, dreamy place.✨ Ps: I want to say this, I think it was my luck, the reflection piano version from Disney's Mulan, which everyone knows, was playing. The piano versions of well-known songs are played, was a great ambiance. This was very nice. A very...
