One of the best coffee shops in Burnaby. I've ben to a bunch of coffee shops and this one was really good. Unfortunately I couldn't get a pour over cause their kettle had a chip in it. But I got 2 medium roast drip coffees and a few steamers for the kids. The coffee was delicious it was very well extracted with no sour taste or bitterness. It had lots of chocolate and fruit notes in the coffee. I loved it so much I asked the girl working there on their most popular. She told me that Green Earth Blend is their best selling for pour overs. So I bought a bag to try at home.
Staff were very friendly and helpful. A note I did bring the Green Earth Coffee home and my thoughts were it was kind of flat. I much preferred the drip coffee we had there. There were so much more going on in that drip coffee cup. For my pour over I've done 1 gram to 16.5 gram and a 1 gram to 16 gram ratio. Maybe I will reach out to them and see what they do the coffee and water ratio is for that blend. I brewed it at a 193 F in a Hario V60 and Kalita wave.
I came here 2 times during my trip. I would recommend this place. Overall still an excellent coffee shop and I would highly recommend them over all the other coffee places I've been...

Customers spend their money, especially at small businesses, where they're treated like people first and foremost. Is it possible that declining sales has made them interested in negative reviews? Only time will tell.
If you're looking for a spot to grab a coffee and get some work done, I'd think twice. There are other coffee shops within a 5 minute walk that won't:
-Interrupt a work call to ask if you're going to buy a coffee. Yes, I'd love x, can I pay for it when this call is over?
-Have someone else interrupt you 5 minutes later to ask if you're going to buy a coffee. Yes, I'd like x, but I'm stuck on this call -- can you help me out with that please?
-Have the owner come over and tell you this not a restaurant and you can't just sit here using wifi. As I've told your staff, I was late for a call and couldn't wait at the counter to place an order.
Note, this wasn't my first time at CuppaJoe. I've been grabbing a coffee there at least once a week for the past few months.
At the end of the day it's a great way to lose a customer that...
Read moreI used to love this cafe so much( at least once a week), the coffee is really good and the staff were always very nice. However, I visited yesterday and had a pretty bad experience with one of the (an unfamiliar face, maybe a new hire i m not sure). I ordered some drinks and went to grab a lid next to the coffee machine, but the barista wearing glasses and a mask told me to get the lid from behind instead of the stack that the staff were using. (I assume she didn’t want me to mess up “her setup.”) I was very confused by her attitude, why couldn’t I take a lid from the stack on the counter, which is clearly accessible to customers? The way she told me is a bit rude. I am really disappointed. The coffee quality is also downgrading. Tbh i wont...
