It's been awhile since we last dined here. There have been a few changes to the menu since we last came here. I was a bit saddened to see that the Hakka Style Scallion Oil Vegetable Noodle Soup I had enjoyed last time was no longer on the menu. Happy though to read the menu and see that they do still have Vegetarian options on the menu! Featured here: Glutinous Rice Sausage Skewer Taiwanese Salty Peppery Chicken Nuggets Fish Nuggets in Swirled Egg & Creamy Corn Sauce House Special Vegetable Egg Fried Rice Chive Potsticker Matcha Snowflake Shaved Ice Glutinous Rice Sausage Skewer was definitely new to me, and was amongst the items on their menu that were Vegetarian. The texture was interesting. Somehow, they did a pretty good job of simulating the texture of a meat sausage, with the outer casing that surrounded the glutinous rice. Beyond that, there really wasn't much similarity between this and a real meat sausage either in taste or texture. It was quite bland and lacking in flavor. Not something I'd ever order again. This was the one item I found that turned out to be a disappointment. Everything else on the table was fantastic; especially the Matcha Snowflake Shaved Ice dessert. It's so cool with the dried ice. Makes it look so "misty"! This dessert is an absolute "must" when coming to this restaurant. The kids kept on stretching out their hands; trying to touch the mist! I do recommend before ordering any of their Snowflake Shaved Ice desserts that you check with the staff on whether they have dried ice for the dessert. Last year we ordered the dessert and only after bringing it to the table did they inform us that they had run out of dry ice. So...no "misty" effect that day, which was quite disappointing. I wanted to wait a couple days and see if they would reach out from my initial store customer service review, they did not. So here I am. I dined in on the morning of Tuesday September 30th with my fiance for breakfast. We walked in and we're immediately seated, given our menus ect... within a few minutes we placed our orders and were on our way, standard restaurant stuff. Within 10ish minutes my fiance had begun to receive her food and we both got our drinks. All good so far. My fiance finished her meal and I still had not received mine. 45 minutes elapsed and Im getting irritated because I still had not received my food. We try calling the server because Im ready to leave and get food elsewhere. The servers were not coming. Other guests around us are also getting irritated and angry. My food finally comes and is just plunked down on the table, no apologies for it taking so long or anything. My food was as cold as it could possible be, I would assume that it was ready about 20-25 minutes MINIMUM before I got it. At that point we are trying to get the server to come back and give us out bill, I scarf down my food that should have gone in the trash while we wait for a server and nobody wants to come. About 30 minutes later and after asking the server multiple times we finally get our bill. Still no apologies or anything. By this point I had already dont the customer satisfaction survey that was posted at the table. Service was horrendous and at least my food should have gone in the trash instead of being served. To their credit, my finance, didn't have issues with hers except that we gave up on trying to get a take home box for her leftovers.

If I could give this 0 stars I would. I will not be back. As a first time customer to this establishment they lost my business in a glorious fashion.

Long lineups when we went, but I must say the food was well worth the time and money for the combos we ordered. Even though they are on the expensive side for Taiwanese set menu, but the quality and amount of food was exceptional. I ordered the pork chop rice combo (the most common Taiwanese lunch box) to base my review on. It came with 3 sides plus half a marinated egg, as well as minced pork on rice. The minced pork on rice alone sets itself apart from other Taiwanese restaurants in Burnaby. The pork chop was very tasty as well. My husband had the chicken rice set (another common Taiwanese meal), he thought it was the best chicken he had both in the greater Vancouver AND in Taiwan (We are both Taiwanese). My review of 5 stars is solely for the food, however. As they were very busy, the quality of their service suffered a bit. Even though all the staff was relatively friendly and fast (notably the maitre d', bravo to him for dealing with a huge lineup patiently and professionally), there were quite a few things they overlooked. For example, a customer grabbed a chair from another table to their table on their own, but none of the staff noticed and still showed a new set of customers to the table with the missing chair and left the customers very awkward so they both sat on the sofa side. It wasn't until at least 10 minutes passed by when they finally got the attention of a server then he quickly went to get a chair in embarrassment. Another incident was miscommunication of a reservation for "12 people", the person who wrote down the reservation thought it was for "12 o'clock" instead. So when the huge group showed up it made a bit of chaos on top of the big crowd already in line, so we had to wait even longer to...
