Szechuan Cuisine — Restaurant in Burnaby

My friend and I sit in corner at first, they asked us a favor to exchange a table with other customers, and we agreed. And they promised us to give us one small side meat dish for free in a hotpot, and we chose quail egg. When the hotpot was served, there is no quail egg. I kindly told the server we didn’t get the quail egg, she went to check and came back told us we can get the two veggie side dishes for free. When we got the bill, the two sides are still on the bill. The cashier said it’s not possible, they can’t make any decisions to give anything for free. I asked the lady who served us if she has promised us. She didn’t admit at all. I’m so surprised they break the promise so fast after take advantage of us. I’m totally fine if you couldn’t make any decisions, and I can still do you a favor to exchange table with others. It’s just ridiculous they promised something, and they didn’t admit in the next second, and playing a game with you. The game is “they asked you a favor, and told you they can give a side dish for free. When the hotpot is served, they didn’t serve you the side dish. When you asked them where is the dish, they told you they can give the two veggie side dish for free instead. When you got the bill, they don’t admit whatever happened just now and pretend they didn’t say anything.” If you are not able to make decisions, let us know immediately, don’t promise please! I had an argument with them. In the end, they waived off the two sides dishes which is around 10$ dollars. This is the worst experience I’ve ever had with a restaurant. I felt they were fooling us, and dump us right away after use us. Honestly, this is the first time I see two-faces person in my life. In the end, the server asked us she already waived off the $10 why I don’t pay tips? Excuse me???????? Definitely will never go...

Yo!! this place is a TRIP.. Food = 6.5 / 10 Service = 1 / 10 Cleanliness = 1 / 10

First off, the service here is out of this world bad. It's like they pride theirselves in poor customer service. We came on a Friday at 6:00, and all of the 8 tables were full of people. There was ONE person serving us all. On top of that, she wasn't even giving us her full attention, she was running in and out of the kitchen and also handling payment AND also handling food delivery pickups and phone calls.

Many people just ended up grabbing cutlery and napkins from the table nearby as they couldn't get the attention of the "waitress"

As for the food, it was a mix of good and bad. I really enjoyed the spicy/sour fish soup because the fish was fresh and came out of the fish tank. They also had a nice beef shank / intentestine dish that was tasty.

However a couple of dishes were notably bad. They had this stir fried beef w/ cumin and the beef was very chewy and obviously a bit stale.

Also, the thousand chilli chicken dish, was terrible. The chicken pieces were TINY and many of them were mostly just chunks of bones. The pieces that did have meat were incredibly small and because of the way it was cooked, the meat ended up being so dry. I've had this dish at many other szechuan restaurants and it's much more tender / juicy ( eg. Peaceful Restaurant, S&W pepper house in Crystal Mall ).

The cleanliness and decour of the restaurant was atrocious. There was pieces of cardboard covering the windows all over the place. It looked like some crack house or some hostage situation where the criminals don't want the police to see inside the building.... Also, one of the fish tanks water was super dirty.

I'd recommend only doing pick up at this place as it seems impossible to get decent...

Worst decision ever to visit this place. Wouldn’t recommend this place at all.

1. Disgusting food (super oily, over-cooked, extremely salty). We ordered 5-6 dishes, every dish tasted the same. May be the sauces used were same for all. Everyone (we were 5) had a weird tingling sensation on the tongue and throat. We couldn’t even finish half of the food we ordered. All dishes and cups had chips. Plates and chopsticks were greasy.
2. Horrible service. Upstairs was empty except for one couple having food but they didn’t allow us to sit there and rudely asked us to go sit down because they were just 2 and didn’t want to walk all the way up and down to take orders and serve (would’ve made sense if that couple wasn’t allowed too) May be they were being racists and biased with us.
3. The servers/waitresses were extremely rude because we didn’t give minimum 10% tip and hurled curses at us for the same. We didn’t like the food neither the service so why would we tip high? There wasn’t any compulsion to do so. When leaving they started shouting and pushed the table at us at exit. Very rude, arrogant and disrespectful behavior of the 2 waitresses.

Please go this place to dine-in only if you wish to get rude & arrogant service and also if you’d like to hear abuses for not tipping for the pathetic service.
