Papa Johns Pizza — Restaurant in Burnaby

TLDR: 0 stars. This is the worse pizza in Metro Vancouver hands down. I wouldn’t eat at this store if I was paid to.

Having tried other Papa Johns Pizza in the region, I was looking forward to the Pizza here after seeing they had a new owner special. But how wrong was I.

The pizza dough has like no rise and low hydration so it didn’t rise at all. It was a regular crust that was as thin as a NY crust but super chewy. Chewy to the point that a child couldn’t eat it and if an adult tried; it would be a jaw workout. It was so chewy, the pizza crust and base were basically inedible.

The pizza has a huge crust edge, measuring over 4cm (~1.6inch) at spots, so you basically had a medium pizza instead of a large.

It was unevenly baked. One side was baked well and the other side was as pale as the cardboard box.

They can’t even get the basics right. There was no Pepperoncini Pepper and Special Garlic sauce in box that comes with every Papa Johns Pizza.

Despite Papa Johns pizza tracker saying it was ready; when I went to the store and with no one else waiting or rush, the staff said my pizza was ready and proceeded to stack boxes and put on stickers. And then without washing hands, goes right back to grabbing my pizza resting in the oven into the box and cut it.

There are better pizza stores nearby and much better stores even inside...

I ordered a zesty Italian trio pizza from this place. There’s a banana pepper is on side but no banana pepper toppings on the pizza. Very disappointed.

Update: The store manager called me roughly 30 minutes after I post my review and apologized for the mistake. Then he told me that mistakes do happen and I should not post a bad review online, instead I should contact them first. Next time he would add extra pepper toppings.

First I appreciate the store manager followed up very quickly on this matter. But as a customer, I feel it’s more like a compliant that I should not make a bad review. After I point out it’s redundant to add extra peppers as it will make the pizza super spicy. He then said he would add one extra toppings to my next order.

I still remember I got two pizzas delivered to me from dominos when I only ordered one as they forgot one topping when making the first one. I agree that mistakes do happen but what you do after the mistakes makes a big difference. And I suggest before calling a customer, you should calm...

This is the worst food place I have ever been to. This place is so unsanitary. The girl working she was wearing black glasses was talking on the phone while making the pizzas, all her spit was going on the food. I didn't pay to have spit all over my food. Also she was not wearing gloves and had long nails which dirt gets stuck on your nails and that was going all on the food. She kept touching her glasses because it was sliding off her face and touching her noise. She also came to take orders touching the cash desk, which the machines looked so dirty and right after that she would go and continue making the food. I have not seen a more unsanitary food place in my life and I've been to lots of pizza places. This is disappointing. She said it will take 15 minutes to make which after 30 minutes of waiting it was still not done, I asked for a refund. I dont recommend anyone to go to this place.
