As a resident at the Legacy towers and a supporter of local businesses, I've given Sushi Moto a fair amount of business. Even though their prices are higher than surrounding competitors, their quality has been the reason why i've returned in the past. With this being said, I feel like Sushi Moto has gone downhill since last year and I will not be returning.
Size has durastically decreased for their sashimi / nigiri pieces while retaining higher prices than Sushi Garden / Sushi Town
Quality has also gone downhill in terms of freshness and overall satisfaction from a sushi craving
Lastly, the last straw happened tonight. We had ordered a variety of dishes, later adding on 5 pieces of nigiri. They were busy, however it took them 35 minutes to deliver on those 5 pieces. We were basically hungry again from waiting for our 5 pieces, and not 1 waitress came up to us and explained the delays. To make things worse, when I mentioned how long we had waited for 5 pieces of nigiri, nothing was done to compensate the inconvenience it had caused.
SUMMARY -
This place used to be amazing for their variety of special selections of sushi / sashimi / baked items. This was their way to compete with giants like Sushi Garden, and still attracted repeating customers even if their prices were higher. However, for the many times i've been going back, quality and overall satisfaction of this unique sushi restaurant has dissappeared. And no one seems to care to do anything about it. It's lost my...
Read moreHow this place has such a high rating is why I have trust issues with people's perceptions on what they think passes as good food.
It started off poorly because it took a long time just to order. And before we even ordered, with menus closed still sitting on the table, one of the servers put a plate of sushi on our table and quickly walked away. We had to flag her down to let her know we hadn't even ordered yet so clearly the sushi wasn't ours. She realized it was for a table over by the window and she took it off our table and brought it over to them even though it sat at our table a good minute.
We ordered five dishes, one of those being a sashimi order and 40 minutes later it was clear they forgot the sashimi. A table that came after us and ordered after us had their sushi order 20 minutes in. So I asked about it and she said they are working on it and I saw her go and talk to one of the chefs in Korean. Probably asking them to rush it. So I said we don't want it anymore and I guess that angered the chef because he glared at us and they talked about us in Korean all while he glared at us. When I returned the stare they stopped but it was still very uncomfortable.
The food that we did have ranged from okay to good but nothing special. With the endless options of Japanese restaurants in town I think it's important that customer service is decent. Glaring at a customer that want to cancel an order that they forgot to make is probably not a good...
Read moreThe food is great. I ordered the spicy salmon sashimi, and the lunch special chirashi. The spicy salmon had a sweet and spicy sauce which I liked a lot. The lunch special was good too with the sweet teriyaki sauce on the rice and sashimi. However, the sashimi was at room temperature, I don’t like. It should be slightly below room temperature, but not freezing. The miso soup was perfect.
The service was amazing. I had a very friendly server, she would check up on me if everything was good and offered more tea. She was a bit quiet though, I couldn’t really hear her through the music that was playing.
The atmosphere is dark with warm lighting which I love. The place is a bit old, and dirty, but this place has been here for a long time, so I understand. They had action figures along the walls which makes this sushi place very unique and has its own personality. While I was eating though, there were fruit flies flying around.
I can see myself bringing my family here for dinner. I recommend trying...
