This is such an awful place for a concert. I can't imagine why any promoter would hold a concert event here with other options in the city.
Came for FIR and Papa Roach this week. Rather than using the large side entrance, they funneled everyone through the small front entrance in a single line. The doors opened at 5, concert started at 6. We arrived at 5:20 and waited over 1.5 hours to get inside. We missed the entire first band and half of the second one because Big Four is not capable of handling large crowds.
Once we did get in, the lines for the few bars they had open were a nightmare. Took the entire intermission between bands to get a single drink that was very poorly made.
Sound wise, this space is basically a warehouse... The acoustics in this building are AWFUL. Large concrete pillars right in front of the stage kill the sound immediately. The sound that does make it past the pillars bounces around so poorly off the hard walls its just awful. The floor is slippery as can be the second a drink gets spilled (which is...
Read moreThe venue is great for concerts. We saw Sawyer Brown with Lonestar, Doc Walker and George Canyon. We could bring in our own camping chairs to sit on. The venue is huge and there never seemed to be too big of a lineup at the bathrooms or the bar. Drink prices were reasonable for an event (8.25 a beer). The food was super disappointing, they could have just had simple foods, it didn't need to be so fancy. A plain burger or nachos and cheese would have been great. I had the Diablo Pork Bites (I had no idea what those would even be) turns out they were super dry little sausages that weren't that great and gave you terrible heartburn. The sandwich choices were too complicated with too much going on. I don't understand why venues don't have smoking patios if there is no re entry. I am not a smoker but I went with smokers and it would have been nice for them to be able to enjoy a smoke. But overall I would definitely recommend this venue and will visit again, I will just make sure...
Read morePretty awful experience during the Rockzilla show on February 28th. We arrived shortly after the doors opened, but were stuck in a 2 hour line with at least an hour of that being spent outside in -15 weather. Lots of people arrived from the LRT in hoodies, t-shirts, miniskirts, etc - probably anticipating a relatively speedy entrance; but were stuck outside for well over an hour. I sincerely would not be surprised if some people had frostbite.
This was 100% a logistics problem on behalf of the venue. They had a single line with thousands of people in it - it needed to be split into multiple lines as soon as possible. Not only is it a huge bummer for those of us who wanted to see the opening bands, but couldn't because of the terrible logistics - but as mentioned before, it was dangerous! If people got frostbite, the venue should be...
