Is it possible to fall in love with French toast? Because that’s exactly what happened at Brekkie Café — and not just to us adults, but to our 10-year-old too, who declared, “This is the best French toast I’ve ever had.” And he’s right.
⭐ A Breakfast That’s Worth Every Penny
Yes, Brekkie is a bit pricier than your typical breakfast spot, but once the food arrives, it all makes sense. Everything — and I mean everything — was crafted with care, consistency, and quality ingredients. From the presentation to the very last bite, this was breakfast done right.
🍞 The French Toast — A Masterpiece
Fluffy on the inside, lightly crisped on the outside, served with a generous helping of butter and maple syrup — this dish alone earns a standing ovation.
🥓 Bacon & Sausage — Next-Level
The bacon was perfectly smoked, with just the right thickness and a great fat-to-meat ratio. But the breakfast sausage? In my opinion, the best I’ve ever had. Not over-spiced, just enough seasoning to highlight the flavor of the meat itself. Perfectly sized. Perfectly prepared.
🥔 Potatoes, Eggs & Coffee — Nothing Left Behind
Even the potatoes were a thoughtful touch — a beautiful mix of colors and types, all cooked to perfection. The eggs (sunny side up) had rich, orange yolks and were prepared with real skill.
Coffee? Delicious. I started with drip and cream on the side — smooth and satisfying. I later tried a latte, which wasn’t bad, but I found the milk overpowered the gentle bean profile. Honestly, the classic coffee with cream was the sweet spot. (If I could offer one gentle suggestion: maybe take another look at the milk or steaming process for the latte.)
☕ Service & Atmosphere
Heather, our server, was fantastic — kind, attentive, and made us feel at home, never rushed. Despite the full house, we waited only 5–10 minutes. The café itself is cozy, stylish, and welcoming. Plenty of parking, too.

🙌 A Word of Thanks
To the team behind the counter and especially those working the line in the kitchen — thank you. It’s clear you’re passionate about your craft and consistent with every plate you serve. Your attention to detail doesn’t go unnoticed.
This has become one of our favorite breakfast spots in Calgary, and we’ll gladly be recommending it to everyone we know.

Food subpar each time I dined here. Staff slow and rude. Beyond that I was accused by the manager that I was using profanity towards staff and was told to leave. I had my three children. I was coloring with them. Not once did I speak with any server while I was waiting over half hour for food to come out.
I am the CEO of the largest private education company in Canada. I love children. I own two dozen businesses in Calgary alone: restaurants, retail, manufacturing, logistic, construction... I also sit as a chair for NGO and sat as c. executive member for numerous chains and corporations.
More importantly, using profanity they accused me of is not even in my dictionary. I've been featured by CTV and Darrel Jans on "Inspired Albertans" for the work I've done for the city and the communuties and many successful entrepreneur that over developed and trained. So, imagine my surprise for way the manager approached me, accused me and treated me like a second class citizen.
Owner called after I left the restaurant. She is an assimilated Asian with a couple other small restaurants in town. She didn't call to apologize. She called to tell me that she's reported me to the police for causing a scene and never to return. I've done work with CPS and some of the police officers used to work for me and my organizations before they went to join the force. In fact, I work as partners with few CPS officers and even with members of Canadian Army.
I shared my story on social media. It got over 60k view in the first 12hours and many people agreed that what I encountered here is systemic racism. During this altercation, a white woman that the manager rallied up against me told my 3yr old girl - "I am so sorry you have a daddy like this." Shame... Just shame on the owner, manager, and people that joined in to attack me and my children.

So my wife had been really wanting the seasonal special at brekkie, some churro French toast, which looked really good. So we decided to drive 30 minutes across the city to check this place out. While driving, I checked the online wait list to see that there was only a 5 minute wait, so we didn't make any reservation online. We checked in the parking lot as we got there and still said 5 minutes, so we went in and gave our names to the hostess.
5 minutes past, 10, 20, and eventually 25, and multiple people who came in after us got seated, so I checked our reservation the hostess made and she had put us down as a party of 6, rather than 2. Kind of cheesed, but mistakes happen. Unfortunately, more people were then seated before us who had showed up after we out our names down and when I asked about this snafu, all the hostess could say was "well, you can reserve online". When I pointed out it said a 5 minute wait online, she just said "yeah its confusing". Great.
After more tha. Half an hour, we got our seats (BTW - if you have a peanut allergy like me, this place is not for you since the coffee apparently tastes like nuts). Sat down, and wouldn't you know - this French toast is out of stock, and no one anywhere made any mention, no sign, no nothing. Maybe that's expecting too much, but it's not hard to tell people your presumably popular seasonal feature is out. I was pretty disappointed with my whine experience, so I asked to speak to a manager. In keeping with the theme, no manager was there or more likely couldn't be bothered to see us so we just spoke to our waitress, who offered us a free coffee I couldn't have, and just left.
We left after 45 minutes frustrated, hungry, and knowing we would not be coming back. Really disappointed with disaster of a...
