I hate to leave such a negative review, but I feel like the quality does not match the average rating of this restaurant and I was very dissatisfied. The first negative was the price. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich, and it was $10. There are many chicken sandwiches for less than $10 in Calgary, and every one of them that I've had was superior to this. The second issue was the bathroom; it smelled fine, but every surface was covered with grease or dirt smears, as if somebody took a dirty cloth and wiped the entire room.
The biggest issue was the sandwich itself. I didn't taste anything spicy about it whatsoever, the breading was not crispy, and the chicken breast was about 2/3 of the size of the average chicken sandwich that I've ordered at other restaurants. The vegetables were also very sparse. The only ingredient that was generous was the amount of Mayo (too much for me). The sandwich was cooked fresh which was nice, but I waited at least 10 minutes and they did not tell me there would be a wait when I placed my order. I won't be trying this...
Read moreI was excited when another food place finally open in the former OP To Go space.
I have seen Fritou locations throughout the city but have never tried before.
For this occasion, I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich meal which took 15 mins to be made. I was happy to wait as I rather have it freshly made.
The spicy chicken sandwich was not that spicy though I can handle heat. It was crispy and moist. The bun complimented the fried chicken filet well.
The fries had a coating which made them crisper. It was good.
In addition to the good food, the owner was nice while I was waiting for my order. He talked about trying to add different food to the area. He had told me most fritou's have pizza but since Boston Pizza, Bravo Pizza, and Mercato is nearby, he didn't feel like that would add anything. Instead, he added fish and chips, fried cauliflower bites, etc to give more options.
Will definitely be back to try their...
Read moreOrdered there for the first time today looking for fast food in the area. It took at least 15 minutes for them to make a club sandwich and fries. The only other customer ordered a spicy chicken burger with onion rings 30 seconds before me, and he got his meal at the same time. The one guy working there clearly seemed overwhelmed.
The food itself was mediocre. There wasn't any bacon, 1-2 pieces of the dullest lettuce I've seen, and a single slice of tomato split between the 4 portions. The fries were okay, tasted fine but really greasy.
I absolutely regret not going to Boston Pizza, A&W, Fergus & Bix, or Hankki. Here's a picture after I ate the first piece and decided to...
